    Oh Yeah you should!!!!!!!

    Your Log in is 73buickGS455!

of course you should bid on it. Just wait until the last day when the guy starts to think it isn't going to hit his reserve.

I bet that car goes for a reasonable price. Looks like its in nice shape as well.
No shots of the front buckets though.

Maybe you should ask for pics of the bottom of the rear quarters, and the rest of the interior.

    Good Luck.

It looks nice from 10 feet, but to be honest that would make a nice beater. If your looking for a driver you wouldn't buy this one and start fixing the rust. That's not the point of a beater. With a car like that you will pour every dime and nickel that you haven't already spent in your other GS455 in this one. If you still want to go with a classic, go with a plain jane Century. They are very cheap because they are generally unpopular, which is good for you. Sure they only have a 350, but do you really need a 455? Nope. Gas WILL kill you with 2 455's. Goodluck.

I clipped this from the post:

Also, we had thought this car to be a Stage 1 Gran Sport, but the Vin number shows differently. It still may be, but if so, not from the factory. Also, please note that the VIN number is listed on the door of the car but not in the window. I do not know if it got removed when the inside was redone or what happened. Again the VIN is attached and shown on the door. I will try to see if the plate is just covered or if it is in the car. A new one can probably be made.

This is a GIANT FLAPPING RED FLAG.

Make sure you are buying what you expect.

I would be wary of anything where the VIN is questionable, unless the price reflects that fact.

i thought about it. after the vin thing, my thoughts went away. print it out and take to your motor vehicle dept and see what they have to say.

You can't tell by just checking the VIN if this car has the GS option package (the Sloan museum might have the right info for the production number though). The GS wasn't a separate series anymore since the Skylark body passed away....

It was a Century, with the GS option package, sort of like when the GS first came out in 65.

I would think that the loss of the VIN plate would hurt the value of this car tremendously. Aside from the fact of trying to get it registered in your state. In NY they would need to re VIN the car with a New York State VIN number. I wouldnt buy it. Buyer beware for sure!

But there still is the Body Number Plate and the VIN stamped in the chassis.
No chrome air cleaner lid for the 1973 Century with GS package :Do No: ?

The car could have been a stolen/recovery. That would be one plausible reason that the VIN was removed.

And you can't just walk up to a police car or police station, and ask them to check the VIN for you ?

I dont believe the car is hot, it may have been stolen at one time and then recovered by the police. I dont know about anywhere else, but in NY we have alot of cars stolen. The thieves remove the VIN plate from the window to conceal the fact that the car is stolen. But aside from that, I think the collectibility and value of the car is hurt because of the fact its missing. Its not like this is the only 73 GS 455 out there. They come up for sale every so often. Hey, Ive owned three myself

There really isnt any luck involved. You just have to play the waiting game and have the money ready. Believe me, eventually everything comes up for sale. We're just the caretakers of these cars. What do you think is going to happen when I kick off? All my stuff is going to get sold!
