    Hi Everyone.

Not sure where to start, but we have a 73 century coupe, with 8.5 10 inch rear end (axle code ACB 141 ) as best i can read. Im on my second set ( chinese) axle bearings. we have the non c clip axles and most if not all catalogs and parts show bearing A9 for this application. This second set is chinese built and is crap.. the rollers in the cage have so much slop from side to side.. really looking for a NOS set of GM bearings for this axle set up.. I guess I could start checking with local drivetrain shops but wanted to check back here first to get some ideas and or parts searches. I ordered first from NAPA, toast, lasted 250 miles.. now ordered from Rock Auto.. chinese again.. any suggestions, comments, help or sarcasm is appreciated. im lucky as my next door neighbor has a press at my disposal to press off and on the axles.. just trying to locate NOS or get some good suggestions before these chinese set fails. and they will thanks everyone. rant over.

Your best bet is to contact Jim Mitchke, a.k.a. Monzaz here on the board. His website is www.jdrace.com You can get his phone # from the site. Here is the 8.5 page on that site,

Another thing to be mindful of is the rear seal. I had an issue with that when I built my 1971 8.5. There are thinner seals out there, and if you use one, the result is excess end play of the axle. That will wipe out the bearing. You may be blaming the bearing when the seal is the problem.

    Have a look here,

thanks larry, i will research the information you provided. I have installed the 712146 seal this time, and the lock collar is next to the bearing. Once on the axle, you could actually move the bearing ( rollers) side to side about 2 mm of play... as they were moving in the cage.. not a good feeling of chinese tollerances.
