Was at a show this weekend at Lake George, NY. There was a 72 Suncoupe GS there. The owner said it was 1 of 5 and was for sale . Is there such a car and how would you document it? The car had a GS hood and 350 snorkel setup. The only GS badging were on the front fenders. Has anyone seen or heard of this combination?

One way to determine if it "MAY" possibly be a GS Suncoupe is it will have "SCO" on the cowl tag. Meaning Special Car Order". The Suncoupe was a Skylark option, not a GS option. I have heard that there is documented 4 or 5 GS Suncoupes out there. I am a Suncoupe owner that is cloning mine. I would be cautious and ensure it is real before paying "TOP" dollar for such a beast. I actually know where there is a Stage1 Suncoupe in VA that I can get my hands on, but just can't afford the car, and work to restore. It has window sticker and all from ordering.

Where in upstate are you ?

I was just searching on Suncoupe posts and I saw that the Stage1 car had been sold. It was owned by a guy I heard of in VA, but never met him. I emailed several times back and forth to him and I may be able to find the data that was on the window sticker as he put it in text and sent it to me. I just looked quickly and was not able to find it, but will look more tomorrow.

If I remember correct, it was on the window sticker like " SCO # ??? " and the price was like $261 .

I will see if I still have his email address, as I know he sold a lot of stuff on Ebay. He was known in the Hampton Roads area of VA, as the Buick hoard. He bought up everything around. And then out of nowhere, he started selling everything out.

    Mike,

I forgot that I do have a copy of a Sun Coupe GS350 window sticker and you are right it does have an SCO# with no mention of the Sun Coupe option.

I am really looking for a copy of an original Sun Coupe window sticker. I would like to see exactly how Buick worded the Sun Coupe option.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for info on the 72 GS Suncoupe. I wasn't interested in buying it, but was curious, because I hadn't seen or heard of one before. He was asking $48,000. I live in Albany and am the proud owner of a 1970 GS 455 convertible. Colors are tan top over emerald green with burnished saddle interior. I'd have to sell my Reatta before I got another car and besides my wife would divorce me if I got what I really wanted. A Sportwagon! Someday one will sit along side the GS in the garage.

    Wow Ken,

I can't imagine a Suncoupe being worth anything near that amount. Then again, maybe I should have purchased the Stage1 Suncoupe. I have heard of 2 other Suncoupes down in this area. 1 I have emailed back and forth and another I have seen, it is green with a white top. The green one is down south of Poughkeepsie somewhere and another is red like mine and is in Middletown, NY. There is a few other Buick owners on the board up in the Albany area. I have met 2 of them personally and they are some very good people, as expe3cted in the Buick community.

I see you are new to the board and I would like to welcome you to an awesome community. You will be able to ask anything and the people here will do everything they can to answer or help in most any way.

    And Mike,

There is a few Suncoupe websites out there and I am thinking that 1 of them may have what you are looking for. I will try and search for them as well. Let me know if you come across anything.

That is him. I emailed him back and forth several times, but couldn't get myself to bite on it. It was probably a great deal, but I already had a project and without body work talents, it was too much for me.

I am origonall from the Virginia Beach area and he was a very well known person in the Buick community. When I saw him on Ebay, I inquired who he was and that is how I became into contact with him. It sounded to me that he got out of the car scene for some reason. Actually I was saddened that he was selling everything, becouse it must have been something serious. And I did not know him well enough to ask, not that it was my business anyways.

    Mike,

You know this Suncoupe. It's the green one down by you. You're right, there are some great Buick people in the Albany area. Not only are they good people, but are very knowledgeable and helpful, especially Karl B.(r72gs-Hi Karl!) and Paul Cassidy. Last year I moved back to Albany from Syracuse and the Buick people in Central NY are just as nice, but I've ben able to meet more owners in Albany. Not too new to the board, just didn't have much to say. Don't look too hard for me, the
attorney fees would make any car too expensive.

I know Eric and Tom up there. Eric is a very respectible young man of the 19 - 21 year range and drove down here last year to meet up and chat for a while. Tom is new to the Buick community, as he races a Monte Carlo and purchased a GS hood from me and will be getting a set of buckets, steering column and a couple of other items from my parts car. He fits in very well and I was very pleased to meet both of them. I only hope to have impressed them as well also.

I hope to hear from you and sometime for us all to meet. I know there is a cookout in Yardley, PA today that I just found out about a couple days ago. Maybe next year wqe can all get together.
