hey all, Finally got my AC running and when I was under hood after a drive I was checking the sight glass just to make sure all was good. I gave it a little throttle by hand with the compressor engaged and all of a sudden I started getting smoke and popping noise from what appeared to be the voltage regulator area. when idling it doesn't do act up, only when you bump it to say 2-2500rpm. it also doesn't do it at all when the ac is off. Alternator is 55amp, been rebuilt. VR is original. Is it possible the AC is causing a draw on the regulator and it is failing? I don't want a fire and I have yet to get back in there as the car is still warm. Any opinions? Mark
