I'm having a problem with the right side turn signals on my 72 Riv -- Anyone out there have any suggestions or a sloution? Here's what happens -- with the headlights off, and the turn signal switch set to the right, the front and rear turn signals turn on, but dont flash. The dash light is off.

With the headlights and switch set to right, the rear lights shine bright, but the front turn signal and front marker are dark. The green dash light for the right turn signal light is dark.

If I turn the headlights on, but leave the trun signal off, the rear lights are fine, but the right parking light and side marker are dark. The dash light for the right turn signal glows bright.

Does it sounds like I have a bad turn signal switch, headlight switch, or a wiring problem?

Check all your bulbs on the affected side. If the bulbs are burned out, the lights may not flash. They are 1157 bulbs, and have 2 filaments. One filament can be burned out, the other good. Result, you can have lights but no signal flashing.

I have replaced the front bulbs, and nothing changed.

I would recommend checking the ground connections. A bad or weak ground connections can cause feed back through the wiring harness which can cause some pretty wierd results. The easiest way to do this is build a jumper wire with aligator clips on each end. Find a known good ground and ground the base of each turn signal socket. Let me know how you do....

Adding a temporary ground is a great idea -- I'll try it this weekend. Many thanks!

    Bad lights

The dash light may be the problem. If the dash light is out, the blinkers won't work. You may also have a bad socket in front .

    turn sig problem

I'd bet the farm that it's a ground problem. The plastic sockets with the built in ground wire can do this. I'll bet if you drop the socket down, attach one end of a jumper wire to the bulb itself (down along the side where the metal base is) and the other end to metal (like the bumper), it'll work fine. The simple solution is then to get a new socket.
