I saw a 72 only non map light bring $225.00 on a buy it now and saw one last week bring amost $200.00  whats going on here? I think I can buy a lot of black paint for $200.00 !!! I got lucky and found a very nice one for aound $50.00 on eBay that I talked the guy into ending the auction early. I'm conserned that the prices are going to kill the collector car market for the new to Buicks, Like the street rod the only guys own them are seasoned car guys. AL.

Those are remade and sold through vendors like YO for $50 - 60. The 69-71 with the stainless backs are remade with the Guide name and sold for about $70 through Buick vendors. I have bought the same from a Chevy supplier for $45. These are perfect repros with the day night feature.

What is not remade to my belief is the map light mirror. You have to redo those yourself which is not too difficult assuming the switch is not defective.

I did not see any black mirror in the Year One catolog. Do you know of a supplier for the 72 only black rear view mirror? AL.

Black plastic for 72 although there may have been a transition period from the stainless. I have never owned a 72 so I have never bought a new one with the black plastic back. CARS does show they sell the 72 and I have alway presumed they sold the black ones. They could be speaking of an early 72 stainless which is remade without the map light . I have purchased one.

    Al

If there are no 72s with the black plastic back repros, I can put you a new day/night mirror in at BPG in about 10 minutes while it is still mounted in your car.

Jim, thanks for the reply!!! I did find a excellent orginial metal black non map light mirror and was looking for a spare because the reflective part in the glass many times starts spotting and looks dirty. So far mines not bad. Can you switch the glass in these mirrors? I thought they were glued together. I may take you up on this, I'll look for your response, Thanks AL :beer .

I have done that on both types including the same mirror as yours on Buicklawyer's 72 OLds 442. He watched me do it . Ask him about the results. In fact, if others are interested I could give a 10 minute demo at BPG and you will pick right up on it. I experimented until I got it down to 10 minutes using only a tongue depressor and a hairdryer. You must get a core wedged glass resilvered. I am sending another batch to

    www.reflectedimage.com soon.

    Another resilver source

I just did the mirror in my 71. I was very pleased with the service from Dave's Mirror Shop in Topeka KS.

His website is a little quaint, but the guy does a good job. $27 incl the return shipping
