It can never be said too many times, especially for those like myself who is figuring out what, in what condition, really what is the ultimate goal in what I want, and how much am I willing and what are we going to budget to buy? Thanks for another thread. This will keep us from going in a direction of wasting time, money or a dream on something we would not be happy with.
I'm still curious what the answer to the original question might be. Having not tracked them for a couple of years, what is a '72 Stage 1 in this shape worth when comparing it to comps?
The original question asks what is the "value" of the car. To me this means what is the price that you would have to pay and still leave room to renovate it and not be underwater relative to purchasing a comparable vehicle already renovated. That figure is low and in the order of magnitude of what JW estimated above --$2500 to $3000. I am not sure you could come out even if you paid those numbers. I could see it being a negative number if you consider time value of your money, the value of your own labor, parts, outside labor costs, etc. The other number--the one I think you are asking about--is not "value." You are asking about what will it sell for notwithstanding its real value. That number will be higher--- maybe in the $5000 to $8500 range.
Project Car = Money Pit. Best advice given here is buy the best car you can that needs the least amount of work
