I remember a while back one of the aftermarket resin guys was making a 71 GS trans-kit for the 70 GSX model. Basically consisted of new front and rear bumpers. Havent seen it in a few years though
I couldnt find any 72 GS convertible diecast. So I got a 71 hardtop on ebay without the box for a good price. I have taken it apart, and plan to cut the roof, use the convertible boot cover off a chevelle donor model, and paint the car my color. As for the bumpers, I'll paint on the impact strips. I figure its a close as Im gonna get. Once I actually start the modifications, Ill post pictures.
I have done 4 GS or skylark models 2 were plastic 1/24 (1970) scale and 2 were diecast 1/18(1971) scale. Each time I had to paint on the bump strips.1 of the diecast models I ground off the scoops and filled with epoxy to look like skylark hood. Then ground off snorkel to look like regular air cleaner. We moved so when I get around to unpacking the cars I will take pictures and post. Just remember its a hobby and they arent perfect, but they look good to me!!!
Okay guy's, so I will buy a ' 70 model and do some cutting and shaving to make a perfect ' 72 GS like mine...... frantisek
You dont want a 70 model to make it into a 72. Get a 71. The 70 bumpers are very different. 71's are very close to 72 except for the rubber strips which can be painted on.
Thank's Stanley, when I will be ready the model should be looking something like this : My pride :3gears: Frantisek
