Figured we start a thread for Jim's 72 GS Convertible. He hauled it out to us all the way from Michigan to have us paint and assemble. The chassis and drivetrain are already done so it's just paint, upholstery and install of all the new parts he's gathered. I don't believe it is an original Stage 1 car but it is an original code 65 Flame Orange car and has a stout 455 with FI-Tech fuel injection and a Gearvendors overdrive. Body should be on the rotisserie next week!

Flame orange was the most popular color choice for the 72 GS convertible (131 of all 852 cars), and its no wonder. Its an amazing color, constantly changing and of course bright fun hues are what you want on a drop top !

More numbers and info near bottom of page if you scroll down, you probably have all that already but its there if not.

Little update on the '72 GS. Back from sandblast and rust was about as expected. New trunk floors are in. Working on quarters now and then on to floor.

Will you keep it on the rotisserie when you pull the quarters?

Yes as we're only doing part of the skins on the quarters. Structurally it will be fine.

My 72 GS 350 is Flame orange with a white top and interior. Factory 4-speed with N-25 bumper. I have owned it (her) for 44 years now. Did I mention that it is a convertible as well? Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan. May see some of "you" next weekend @ MCACN too.

I like the car, not that it got away from you. I remember seeing it for sale. Also what a sleeper with white walls.

A little update. Floors are all in, quarters are repaired, bodyworked and in first prime. Next is to set it back on the chassis and fit panels.

Really nice! Normally I would say that Orange would not be near the top of my list for favorite colors for a car, but that shade on that car looks fantastic.

It wasn't my first choice either (if I could have ordered it new), but it is an amazing color, and I love it. Not a single person has said they didn't like it in almost the 20 years since my car was painted. It pops like mad in the sun, goes copper at night, drives the cameras crazy, and turns heads too. The perfect fun color for a fun car.

More pics here so you can see the color changes in different light: http://fixjet.ca/done.html
