A friend of a friend has a 67 GTO clone wants to race me, and said he could take me on a run, I told him he is not in the same league with a 68 326 4-speed 3:3? gears. You guys know my car (72 GS 455 4-speed 3:42 Posi). I'll get you alls input and forward it to the brand "X" owner, AL.
What's he smoking??????? Of course, in Pontiac world what looks like a 326 could be a 455 and you'd have to check numbers to know it...
Hey Al.Even if both cars are pretty much stock I just can`t see the Poncho coming out ahead.I would not consider the 326 a performance engine by any fair stretch.Sounds like we have another one in need of a BBB torque lesson!!! Later,Tony.
Yeah, he keeps ragging me on that I own a emission low compression end of the performance years car. I know it isn't a ground pounding 70 stage1 but it has woke up a lot of brand "X" owners :3gears: , :beer AL.
Wayne, I think your right! He thinks I'm not going to run because of the conservative way I drive. I think if I challanged him I will almost bet he back out! AL. :Brow:
Go for him Al! He's fishbait for ya! Show him that a BBB no matter the year is not a big block to mess with especially when running a SB. :3gears: :TU:
Just tell him to flash the headlights when he surrenders, you should see some lights on and off about 330ft out! :3gears: Tell him to bring along pen and paper to take notes, cause you are going to take his slow azz to school :Smarty: Some people just gotta learn the hard way.
AL.I have driven my GS the last 7 summers with the original "Smogger" 8.5 c.r engine before I built my 462.I never heard a wise crack about the engine when I got on it.It always did great burn outs and sank you in the seat even at 325-330 h.p.Let the guy with the 326 learn the hard way,but as posted earlier watch those Poncho blocks damn hard to tell a 326-350-400 apart.Don`t get fleeced at the lights!!! Later,Tony.
Be careful, the 326 is not a great motor by any means, but a 455 Pontiac is not a slouch either. My 389 looks identical to a 326, 350, 400, 421, 428, or 455. But if everyone is being honest, be a buddy and pull off a couple of plug wires to make it a race.
