The ad speaks volumes...all in a bad way which I won't get into. And yes, there's no way it's an original 39,000 mile car. It's been out standing in it's field for quite a while.
Hey, just because a car has lower mileage doesn’t mean it’s going to be in good shape, I once looked at a 7000 mile 69 Buick that was all but a basket case. You have to learn to look closer. Did you notice the original tyoe clamps under the hood? The red engine paint under the dirt is really too nice and bright to have flipped. The sticker on the overflow tank. My guess is this one sat for a lotta years in the garage and then sometime back in the late 90s pulled it out of the garage after somebody died to get it going and it got moved to the back burner and dat out the Last 20 years. Classic example that you see constantly. If you look at the overall body trim and chrome, it looks like it was probably excellent and just left it deteriorate.
Which is all the more justification to go out and have a real good look; I've found "diamonds in the rough" but only after really looking them over hard and with a critical eye. Pictures (especially bad ones) rarely do the car justice.
LOL, I'm not saying this one is a diamond in the rough, this one would still cost more to bring it back than it would be worth
My grandmother had a 1968 Pontiac "Custom S" with 24K miles and the body fell off in 1982. It was going to be my first car but the rust was so bad it was not safe and had to be junked. Low miles does not equal a solid car.
