72 core support braces questions???

    I purchased a used set of braces for my 72 car. I was kindof puzzled when I got two of the exact same braces. I was talking to Rick Henderson and he says they are supposed to be the same. In no way at all am I wanting to question his knowledge and I do not want to P anyone off.
    I just want to make sure it seems weird that the 72 braces would be identical. I would have thought that both would need to be bent to clear the A/C canister behind the support. According to my book the one from drivers side top (attached to core support) going down to the bumper brace goes in front of the other one. This is the one I expect to have a bend clearance toward the threaded rod end to clear the canister. Then I expected the one coming from the passenger side top (attached to the core support) to have a bend closer to the crimped on nut.
    For a 1972 GS,
    Is this not the case?
    Are both rods exactly the same for an A/C car?

    Troy,

    Don't know how this fits in your question, but on my 72 Stage1 both of the rods have a curve in them. Now one of mine or both may have been replaced prior to my getting the car in 1985 but at least it answers the question that some years did in fact have a curve in them.

    I'll be watching the feedback on this to see the experts answer.

    Check a 72 assembly manual for part numbers.

    Troy,
    I just checked my 72 assembly manual and it shows both braces and calls them out as " 1240606 -Brace asm (2) 44467-43437-67", therefore Rick Henderson would be correct, both are the same.

    It also shows that the one starting at the driver side top and angling down to the passenger side bumper bracket is the one that goes to the front of the car. (Probably for clearance.)
