Hey Brian! it's been a while! I'd sell the boat along with the Buick if my dad didn't have part ownership of it. When the 72 goes, I'm going to take a bit of a break with cars, wait till the economy turns around, then go looking for a 64/65 'lark. I'm not out of Buicks, just taking a momentary step into fiscal sanity for a little while.
Not looking to trade at this time, unless you have a rust free 64-65 lark with a big block in it.
I can vouch for this car, seeing as how Mike is my former son-in-law. Went w ith him to pick this car up in Indiana. Really nice paint. Color is outstanding. If you buy this car,you won't be sorry. JOE
Brad, Congrets on the car. I would have snatcht it up if it not would had cost me in the area of $10-12 k for bringing it over and pay the danish tax/toll. Enjoy it and drive the hell out of it:3gears:
I just sold my 72 Chevelle SS 402 4 speed today. If I had sold it a couple of weeks ago this car probably would have been in the Chevelles spot in the garage today! :TU:
Leaving Saturday morning (tomorrow, as I write this, in fact it will be today in twenty minutes!) to go get it. It's my first time bringing a car over the border. I'm a little nervous about the whole process. As far as I know, I am all set, title sent to the border crossing, etc. Still, I can't wait to finally see the car and take it for a drive!
Well, I got the car home. Nearly 30 hours of driving (round trip) but worth every minute. Went with a very good friend of mine (thanks Dean!). Rented a U-Haul trailer in Illinois, and met Mike on Saturday evening. What a great person he is. Very helpful, honest, and patient as we have a trail of 64 e-mails and some phone calls between us. Thanks again Mike! The only real problem we met (other than some rain as we loaded the car on the trailer) was a condescending Canadian customs officer. He didn't believe what I paid for the car. He basically called me a liar, and said, "If you are not telling me the truth, I suggest you do it now [or else]. I guess he was just trying to make me sweat and see if I would change my story. There was nothing to change. The price I paid is in the asking price on post #1 of this thread. Anyway, we made it to Dean's house, unloaded the car, returned the U-Haul trailer, and I drove the car a half-hour home from there. It was a hell of a road trip. Nothing better than a road trip with a good friend, and the prize I brought home has me giddy with excitement. I have FINALLY got my Buick! BBB/4-speed...Mmmmmmm......sound like a good combo to me! I'll post some photos when I get a spare minute...
Its going good, did some work on the front end suspension as it had a broken spring. I had it out a bunch of times this summer. Pretty happy, looking forward to next summer when it heads to Ont for the big resto. Maybe I'll see you at a car show back there.
It unfortunately is so. That's OK though, I'm planning on building up a 64-65 Special / Skylark BBB once the economy turns around. :TU: After emailing, phoning and meeting Brad I know he will take great care of the 72. :beers2:
