factory cast iron intake, the TA 350 one. finding an old alumimnum i think ofenhouser <sp? one i think they made but cant exactly rember.

if you mean air rails for emissions you could find a later model intake manifold. late 70's. or you'd loose the emissions equipment.

I believe the "air rails" that you are talking about are on top of the intake. I may be wrong but thought that was a 71' only emission equipment part. :Do No:

72 CA emissioned cars and later have the air rails on them. they are molded into the intake on both sides.

ya i have a ca car i dont care about keeping the emmisions stuff, so my options are a old factory 4-barrel, or a new one form ta or poston

I have a 74 SBB and i also want to put a 4bbl intake on it the current 2BBL has the same air rails you mention. The other option as with the newer 455 is to just plug the air hols in the head with some type of plug as long as the heat cross over is not exposed you can do that> I will be putting a 4bbl on mine from a 68 later this year I will post pictures at that time. As for putting an Edelbrock carb on the intake the secondary butter flys will hit tthe stock Qjet opening on the secondary side thats the problem as well most SBB intakes seem to be very flat and may not have room for the linkage to move correcty. you can always use a carb adaptor as well bit I personally do not like them

so what do you think my best bet is, as far as the carb goes, i was thinking of a 750 cfm holley, do u think that that would be a good idea, or should i get something else, in the near future i am planing to put a mild cam into the 350 as well as an hei ignition system.

750 cfm q-jet. (factory for your car try to get from 70-74 i believe is the cutoff date of the better ones). get a used one and a rebuild kit for now.
then when you get a cam to swap send the carb to one of the carb builders and let them know what setup you have and it will be ready to drop on and set the idle speed and your good to go.
