Did you need that decoded? Anyway it is a 71 GS convert. Made in Flint Michigan, Burnished Cinnamon Paint with White top, Not sure on interior 155 code as I do not have my book handy however probably White Split bench. Car was built first week of December, 1970. Is it a 455? Stage-1? Just curious. I have burnished cinn. 71 as well. Yours sounds like a nice color combo.
Talked with the owner he said he thinks it a 455 car tranny has a BA code. Motor is not # matching. He has NOS fenders and 1 qtr. headlight bezels some other misc parts. Would be a pretty car but i don't think i'm up for that much rust. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...iewItemQQcategoryZ6144QQitemZ4621747392QQrdZ1
Only way to tell if original 455 is if VIN is stamped on drivers side of trans case. Doesn't look to bad to me. Convert big blocks always worth the money I think. Someone will grab this!
There was a thread recently on differences between SBB & BBB cars. Discussion referenced the steering shaft & joint/coupler under the hood. Different style between the two engine sizes. Maybe someone here could find & attach it?
You are right the 455 steering shafts have a clamp with a bolt where it attaches near the rag joint where on non 455's the clamp is welded on. This is easily changed from one car to another however where trans. is VIN specific.
