My 71 Riv has the glove box button and the solenoid which pops up, but it looks like it may have a "standard" or other incorrect replacement trunk latch that doesn't catch the solenoid plunger/pin. So it makes a nice loud thunking sound but doesn't succeed in opening the trunk. I can't find any illustrations and most of the power-trunk-release traffic on this site is on A-bodies so I don't know if that hardware is interchangeable with the big cars. See attached pictures - I'm terrible with spatial relations/3D visualization, so I hope the pix explain it. Is there a different latch piece to catch the plunger, or something that attaches to the latch that I'm missing? I'm guessing the pin comes up on the backside of the latch around where I've marked it. Can someone post a pic of a working setup in an early 70s large car? Thanks, v8buick.com
No, I don't have any extra parts, but that looks like it would complete the assembly. It looks like it should attach to the backside of the latch, it would catch the plunger and trip the latch from the backside, yes? Do you have an extra one of these?
