Thanks to V8Buick for all the info, advice, and parts (seats, console, shifter, linkage, column, and correct steering wheel all found here) to make this happen. I had the bench > buckets done a couple years ago and that came out well; my upholstery guy was able to pretty much transplant the seatbacks, and re-use the bench cloth for the bucket bottoms. I had the whole thing done professionally because a) I'm lucky enough to be able to afford that and b) trust me, you don't want to riding be in a car where I have messed with the steering and transmission selection... Anyway - here she is - the way she should have been built! (before and after)
Looks great Peter. It looks like you had a 70 steering column in it to start .Or at least a 70 wheel.
Thanks! The before pic has the wheel that was in the car when I got it, which was an incorrect pre-71 wheel, I'm wondering if it had a whole 70 column... which also makes me wonder about the whole history of the car, but attempts to find/contact prior owners have been fruitless. I ended up using a 74 column. And that steering wheel is from a 75 LeSabre! (but a correct style) So there are about 8 slightly different shades of blue in my interior, but it works for me I wonder how long it will be before I stop trying to grab the column shift lever that's no longer there
