71 GS Stock Appearing Clone

    Very nice 33,000 mi. 71 Skylark cloned into a GS. Silver with a black vinyl top. Black bench interior, manual steering and brakes, non-air car. 3400 lbs. 492" engine, 350 lock-up trans. 11.20 @118. More of a track car than a street cruiser. Asking price 28k. Pictures to follow.     INTERIOR, standard bench interior in excellent origional condition, added 70 GS door emblems, column shift, radio delete, rallye steering wheel, monster tach, oil and water temp, ignition box hidden in glove box, sound deadening removed, trans lock-up wired into hi beam floor switch. no roll bar. has all seat belts, shoulder straps and head rests.

    BODY, Straight origional sheet metal, excellent platinum mist paint, nice vinyl top, (lifting a little by the back window) new parts place GS grille and GS emblem. chrome very nice on bumpers, no dings. door braces cut out (-26 lbs) no trunk or rear extension mouldings, no rear hood trim moulding, no wheel well mouldings, slight pitting on headlight doors, nice scoops and rockers, new Year One front spoiler and baffle.

    ENGINE, 1975 blue block, sonic checked. All machine work and assembly by Diamond Racing. hard block filled 1 1/2'' from deck. Bored .038 over. torque plate honed, zero deck, line honed mains, all oil mods including grooved main saddles with extra hole in bearings. lifter valley epoxy filled and vented. rear block oil return lines to pan. lifter bores bushed and indexed, 1/4'' stroke iron crank by Moldex, internal balance. crank scraper, T/A SFI flexplate and BRJ internal damper. GRP aluminum rods, 7.1'' x 2.0'' x .927. custom Diamond pistons (2 spares) .043 ring pkg. radial porting. bushed full float pins. tops and skirts coated. 14.1 compression. cometic .040 head gaskets. 1970 stage 1 heads ported by Diamond, 300 cfm, stock valve dia. cut .020. 1970 intake by Greg Gessler, crossover cut away on bottom. T/A coated bearings, 1.6 roller rockers, 3/8'' pushrods, timing cover and oil pump. ARP bolts and studs throughout. T/A hydralic roller cam and Comp lifters. 15'' vacuum @ 1200. Idles at 800. Chrome OEM valve covers.

    FUEL SYSTEM, new fuel tank, 1/2'' pickup, Mallory 110 fuel pump and filter, 1/2'' steel lines to front, stock stage 1 pump with internals removed. 1971 Q-jet by Norm Diehle. Needs VP C114 fuel.

    ELECTRICAL, new 63 amp alt, blueprinted dist. with stinger pickup and T/A bronze gear, MSD 7 AL3 ignition and Blaster 2 coil. Taylor 8mm wires, custom 18 lb. R59 Delco battery, new oem battery cables, new Year One engine harness, new Tilton starter.

    COOLING, T/A water pump short, 70 non air pulleys, clutch fan, 71 OEM fan blade, Griffin OEM style aluminum radiator, painted black.

    EXHAUST, 70-72 exhaust manifolds by Gregg Gessler, extrude honed and ceramic coated. 2 1/2'' mandrex exhaust with X-pipe. stainless long case Walker ultra flow mufflers.

    TRANS/REAR AXEL, turbo 350 lock-up, lightweight HD internals, fresh rebuild. Yank H/D lock-up converter, 3500 stall. aluminum driveshaft. NHRA loop, 10 bolt 8.5'' corporate by DTS, lightened 3.90 gear set, spool, 33 spline Moser gun-drilled and star flanged axels, C-clip eliminators and 1/2'' studs.

    SUSPENSION/BRAKES, Global West delerum bushings in rear. boxed OEM arms with rear sway bar. Stocker Star alum rear shocks, new air bags, Morosso front and rear drag springs. New front bushings and ball joints, new end links and idler arm. rebuilt steering box. 3 way front shocks, new master cylinder and brake lines, aluminum drums front and rear with Praise Dyno brake shoes,

    WHEELS/TIRES, 15x8 rear and 15x6 front steel wheels from Wheel Vintiques. nice dog dish hub caps. new Hoosier 9' radial slicks, Mickey 26'' front runners.

    Car leaves hard, steers straight and stops good. Turn key, ready to go. Currently set up for slicks but easy conversion back to polyglass for FAST class racing. Thanks to Diamond Racing, GS Autobody and Rob Ross/Norm Diehle for all their help.
