The 71 is a real GS. Trim 100 is the base vinyl bench seat in green. Sure that paint code is not 43 (Lime Mist)? Can't find anything for a paint code 49. G is Green vinyl top. Z= Freemont Calif built car. 05C is 3rd week of May body build date. The 72 is a Skylark Custom convertible with originally a 350 2bbl engine. Built in Flint.
Thanks brad the color looks to be a dark green metallic i'm pretty sure it was 49 ,could be wrong tho.didnt GS350's have emblems on door panels also or no? Hope he calls back
4H67H2H221940 breaks down as 4=Buick H=Skylark Custom 67=Conv. H=350 2-BC 2=year (1972) H=Flint 221940= Production #
About those door panels. No, they all didn't come with GS emblems. Only upgraded interiors had these. Other things included in the nicer interior are sail panel lights instead of a single dome light and woodgrained dash inserts. These were included when you ordered either bucket or notchback seats.
Pat - Just so you know, it appears that Freemont cars were actually assigned a sequental number for each GS. This looks like the 1,728th GS out of Freemont that year. Notice it's a 3rd week May (1971) car - towards the end of the model year. The Flint and Framingham plants were a COMPLETELY different story. I'm not sure about Leeds. HTH you in your documentation quest
