Hi, this is my first post on these forums...I am actually a Pontiac guy but I have always liked '70-'72 Skylarks and GS models. My question is about deluxe seat belts (the belts with the color-keyed belts and brushed metal buckles)...they are not very common on Pontiacs, but I am thinking they are found more routinely on Buicks of the same vintage ('71). I know a sandalwood interior was available on Buicks in '71...are deluxe belts typical in Skylarks and Rivieras? Any help in locating a set of '71 sandalwood deluxe belts for a bucket seat car would be appreciated. Thanks, Eric H.
Welcome to the board Eric....We won't hold the whole Pontiac thing against you  I think those belts were common in the Buicks, but then again I'm wrong a lot ou: I'm sure someone that knows for sure will chime in soon. Until then you might check the parts for sale section or do a search for them. Good luck
I hit the local yards here in FL every Sat. The deluxe belts w/stainless steel covers are rare! I typically find 1-3 sets per year. I visit 2-4 yards every weekend so that shows how hard they are to find. If you have existing sandalwood belts and want deluxe belts, visit www.thepartsplaceinc.com and they carry the new stainless covers and GM logos for the buttons.
Thanks guys. You have some really great looking (and performing) cars. I guess deluxe belts are fairly uncommon even on Buicks of this vintage, but I'll still keep an eye out at my favorite yards. Are more '70-72 Skylarks bench seat-equipped vs. buckets? Does anyone know if a set of belts from a '71-vintage Riviera would be the right lengths for use in an A-body? Every Riv on eBay that I can see the buckles on has the deluxe belts. Were they standard on Rivieras? Thanks again, Eric H. PS-- I have a Buick connection of sorts...my grandparents drove a '71 Electra 225 4-door with a 455 when I was a kid. I really liked it and wish they still had it.
