After I sold my '68 Charger to Finland I bought this Buick. It has a 350 engine with TH350 trans and a 2:73 open gears. Not sure if those are the exact gears, but they are higway gears for sure. Here's some of the pictures taken by the previous owner. Some random shots by me Walkaround video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBrPlwSS5jw&feature=relmfu 0-100km/h http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUNKB5ZBejU&feature=relmfu I'm thinking of installing a TH200-4R trans with some lower gears in the future. But I have some other upgrades planed like trans cooler,HEI recurve kit, tach and so on.
Thanks! Anybody know what steering wheel this is? I had this autometer tach layng around and found a use for it. I wonder how old these air shocks are? What is this thing for? Related to the second needle in the speedo? Is there a 71 Skylark wiring diagram on the internet somewere? I have some wireing mess from the previous owners.ou: Where I can get a good rebuild kit for my Rochester Quadrajet 7041544 350 A ?
I think that steering wheel is an Oldsmobile unit. That sensor must have been for a cruise control, used to sense driveshaft speed. Nice Skylark!!
Had an accident with the Skylark. Some guy in a Mercedes van did not yield. I'm going to the insurance company tomorrow.Drivers side door will not open and the gaps are messed up. Here's the Mercedes
Small update! My Skylark is in a calendar and in a music video for some strange reason.o No::grin: The music video will premiere tomorrow and hopefully it will be on the internet soon. Here's a little clip how the video was made: http://vimeo.com/34874902 NB! foreign language! Language in the music video will be english of course. Shot from the video(looks like an old photo or something). That's it for now, will post again when the video is out.
Here's the video! <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rlWAHUQwzL0?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="360" width="640"></object>
Nice looking car! The steering wheel is definitely Olds 1970 to about 76 or 77, 442 or Cutlass. I agree the sensor near the driveshaft was for an aftermarket cruise control.
I'm happy with that steering wheel, might change the Olds cap tho So that sensor isn't a factory thing then? That second needle is a speed alert right? Does it sound like this? <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XTXMx4eD97k?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="360" width="640"></object>
So before winter the 350 started to knock, I had planned on taking it out anyway... You can hear the knocking around 0:40 <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gbxau8QJfZI?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="360" width="640"></object> I took the front clip off earlyer this year and today I finaly got the engine out.:Brow: Drivers side mount was broken in half:laugh: And its out! Anyone care to tell me about the numbers? Dual pattern TH350??? This thing was between the speedometer cable and tranny. Had Stewart Warner on it. KPH speedo and 2.73 gears(I think). Tomorrow I'm gonna start to rip apart the engine.
I have never seen that intake manifold number or the block number before... Most likely 72 year heads but get us the numbers under the valve covers so we can research further. Maybe you have the special Euro version of the Buick 350?
Also check for a two digit letter code on the block between cylinders #1 and #2 on the block deck surface.
Why would someone import a European Buick to US? It has the KPH speedo but that's it.I would sure like to know the history behind this car... Block Head
