Need a Winter project & would like to get a correct # alternator for my '71 350. Build date on the car is 01C, not sure what build date code would be correct. Nice to get the right date but not required. I'll restore/rebuild myself.
Either of the following would do the job.
    Production No. 1100932/Service No. 1100849 61A
    Production No. 1101015/Service No. 1101019 80A

You'll prob be better off with the correct 10SI alt, the "849". Is it an open frame? Can you see the windings from the front? Might have one.

The "1015" is a 27SI alt. Much larger case design & requires different mounting bracketry. 1015's were mainly used by Pontiac in late '71 production, & in '72 & 73. Over the years, I've chased quite a few of the 1015's. They were used in cars with a/c & heated rear glass.

Currently looking for another 1015. Needs to pre date an 03E '72 built car.

    Got Posi?

    Roger,
I was not aware the 1015 required different mtg. hardware. The 849 will do nicely.
    Thanks for the info..

Must be at least one on a bench somewhere in the continental US?
