Hey Boattail nuts! A question about the Riviera nameplate on the passenger side of the 71-72 boattails... Is this supposed to be chrome plated on all Rivs those years? I have a 71 with a black dash and the nameplate is black. Can't find even a trace of silver on it, so it doesn't look like it rubbed off. My car is a fairly stripped one. Thanks Ron

    Ron,

Should be all silver according to the sales brochure, but I have seen a lot black emblems on Boattails:

I just picked up a 1971 Riviera to part out. It's a pretty plain jane one as far as Riv's go, but the interior is near mint and the emblem is black.

Both in my 72' Riviera and the brochure for 72' the emblem is silver.

Adam, didnt the Lesabre you got the trunk lip moulding from have a rimblow steering wheel? I think the 1971 Riviera 70gsconvt is parting out has one too. Trevor has his eye on it. :Brow:

The shiny paint on the Riviera nameplate comes off over the years, maybe from vinyl cleaners. Silver model car paint is a pretty good way to make it shiny again.

That's what I used! It's also good for touching up the silver on the steering wheel, but it comes off after about a year.
