Just got a 72 rear bumper (without brackets) to replace the 71 that was on the car. I noticed that I'm missing the two outer supports and have what looks like the wrong brackets as the two holes on the bottom of the bumper don't line up. Are there any differences between the two bracket years? I figured I could use the brackets from the 71. I broke the bolts on the bottom bumper holes, but the rest where hand tight. Safe to assume the bumper had been swapped at some point. Thanks!
Another question. Are there two versions of 72 bumpers? The one old one had the Buick script inbetween the tall lights without the rubber surrounds and the new to me has rubber surrounds and a Buick badge just below the trunk. Thanks! Car is a 72 lark.
The new to you bumper, sounds correct for a 72 with rubber surrounds and Buick emblem mounted in the center above the license plate. There was a discussion about a NOS 72 with the emblem, but no rubber surround holes. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/nos-n-25-bumper-kind-of.316841/ Troy
After looking around for pictures I found that the previous bumper is found on the 1970 model. That being said i guess the brackets are different. Ugh oh well. I'll keep an eye out for some cheap brackets.
