In 1970 the GSX had its own wholesale order form to pick the options from and the GSX only options did not appear on the 1970 GS wholesale order form. The 1971 and '72 GS wholesale order forms do not list GSX options either. So,,,,, was there a '71/'72 GSX option order form? I have detailed 1971 and 72 Buick price lists and they do not show any of the GSX prices or codes. Where is this info listed? I do have copies of a few '71/'72 GSX window stickers so I know the codes and prices but I would like to know if factory info exists. o No: :beer
I'd be interested in that info too,Mike. There almost has to be something to distinguish the X from standard GS cars. Pat
I have been looking for the same thing for many years. The 1970 gsx was the only gsx that was order as a gsx, the 71,72 version was a gs with gsx options, so their must be an order form for these options, but i have never seen one. :Smarty: :Smarty:
I might have to drop an e-mail to Andy at the Sloan Museum to see if he has any info on the 71/72 GSX cars. The 1970 GSX not only had their own wholesale order form like Owen has posted but they also had their own separate price list. There has to be some type of sales literature out there for the 71/72 GSX codes and prices o No:
71 & 72 GSX WCO forms? Mike, my 'X was ordered by the dealership as a stock unit so there must be some remnants of this info the dealership(s) had access to. When Marc sent out the last mailout (from Sloan files) there was included a 'wholesale car order' for the Buick GS (microfiche copy, I presume) for my car that I'm sure had had the Y-41 (GSX ornamentation) box checked off...W-A5 was a mandatory option. Is this how they did it? Can check my documentation early next week when I return home.
I received an e-mail back from Andy @ Sloan. He does not have any type of '71/'72 GSX order form on file and he does not know if they even exist. He thinks that the GSX options may have been sent out on a GM Dealer Memo that listed the codes and prices. Keep an eye open for that memo on e-bay or at swap meets, one still has to exist somewhere...... I have collected some info for the GSX option codes and the 1971 prices, but I only have a few of the '72 prices. In 1972 GM changed the option and base car prices 3 times, so the price depends on when the car was ordered. Does anyone have an orginal '72 GSX sticker that lists the option prices? If so could you also post the build date of your car from the cowl tag. :beer
Mike- I don't have it with me, but there's a copy of the memo in the Steven Dove book. It announces the GSX as an option for '71 and I think it has codes and prices. Not sure as it's been a while since I looked at it. Anyone have a copy of the book handy???? I think the memo came out in November/December of '70.
Thanks Brad.. I have that same book not 3 feet from my PC and I never thought to look in it.. ou: Now, that info covers the '71..How about the '72? The codes will be the same but the prices may be different.. o No: :beer
Mike, I put 2 books together with all kinds of factory info I collected for 71 and 72 cars. I will look through them and see what info I have tonight. Duane PS. Did I ever send you the UPC codes for the 66 cars?
That would be great...'72 is the mystery year for GSX option prices since they changed 2-3 times over the model year. not yet.. :beer
Mike, I found the 66 UPC Codes, but came up empty on 72 GSX pricing info. I will get the 66 stuff to you soon. Duane
