    I think that's what you call them. One of mine is gone, and I'd like to replace them both. These are the bars that help the trunk lid spring up and stay there. With only one there, the trunk wants to drop closed, and I have to use a stick to hold it up.

    I am sure I will find some other parts I need for this car, but for now, this is the main thing.

    Adam,
    Please email me direct, GStage1@buickperformance.com

    Local yard has a granny 4dr LeSabre, another yard has a 71 Electra 2dr.

    I can get both torsion rods. Will be at the yards on Friday. Need your reply no later than 11 pm on Thurs.

    hey adam ....
    the 71 and 72 buicks i have had all had springs that struggled to keep the trunk lid up. i wonder if maybe in 73 they started making them stiffer.
    maybe they are interchangable and the later ones are what gm considered to be an improvemment.
    i think some measurements are needed for comparison.

    GoldBoattail455 462 -> TH400 -> Posi

    I can take measurements from a '73 if needed but only from a C-body.

    I've never hada problem holding my trunk up, but it could be a problem I haven't had to deal with yet.

    Rob, I'm unsure if the C body bars will be the same or not:Do No:

    So how do you remove those without killing yourself?????

    Very easy to remove. I use a very very large pair of C-channel pliers. I grab one end that hooks into one of the 3 adjustment slots and then pull it out and slightly away. Gently move in the direction the torsion bar wants to move and it relaxes. Unhook the other end and slide it out. Piece of cake!

    Went to the yard today and found a set in a 72 LeSabre...all I have to do is figure out how to NOT kill myself when I install them.

    Adam,
    Piece of cake to install. Go to any tool store and by a pair of slip-joint, channel locks pliers about 2-2.5' long. I have a pair and they work great for doing this installation. You need the length for leverage. You install the hinge end in place first and then "muscle" the anchor end in place using the pliers and a few "swear" words. Should not take you long.

    Got it, George! And I did exactly what you said. I have a pair of monster channel locks I use for plumbing, and they did the job quick. I first tried to do it by hand, but I'm weak:Dou:
