Can I use a '69 350 timing chain in a '71 350? Different numbers in the parts book but the dealer had noted to use the '69 number in a '70-76 engine.
I'm thinking the numbers are different cause the 69 woulda had urethane (plastic) teeth from the factory. You don't want one of those.
All 350's are the same 1968-1978, you should not use the nylon gear, and I didn't think they were even available anymore, as about 100k miles they were mostly in the oil pan.
Learn something new everyday! Thanks for the tip Roberta. I found a NOS sprocket last Fall with nylon gears. Stumbled on a NOS chain today for $10.00 & couldn't resist it. I also have an after market set with all steel gears I'll install when the time comes.
