I am once again trying to sell my GSX. As some may know, I tried it on e-bay with a buy it now for $45,000 which I thought, and many others, was a reasonable price. It got up to $36,500 and I need to get more. Any interest? I am open to offers or partial trades.

Is the economy that bad that no one is interested in trading something or at least make an offer? Or is my car not worth nearly what I thought? Any feed-back?

    Dale,
The car market is in the tank now. I have read all the previous posts on your car. I think you are being realistic in your expectations. But the spare cash for toys just isn't available now to the average Joe like it was in the past. It's not your car or you, it's the economy. Don't get discouraged.

i must agree with harvey ,i was looking to spend 20 to 25 thousand but my 2 cents is the market will take years to recover ,cash in the pocket feels good right now.

    good luck

I agree with everything that has been said, but I would like to add one thing. Put the economy aside for just a second. I believe the bubble has also bursted on the vintage car market. The economy was just the catalist to pop it. Like in the late 80's early 90's the vintage car market may well see a pricing correction.

I do not say this in any way to bash our car, it seems to be priced reasonably but, I beleive an across the board price reduction is forseeable.

it is a buyers' market now. there are a lot of cars for sale now.
u guys are correct, the classic car market has tanked. if u have to sell then, it will cost u dearly. if u do not really have to sell, then hold onto the vehicle. it will be interesting to see how the sale prices are affected at the barrett-jackson auction in january.

It sucks that when we finally have to part with our prized possesions to generate a little cash those possessions are down in price. Catch 22. We keep them when they are high and then have to sell when they are low. Dale, if there is anyway you can hold onto it I would do it! They will rise again. Hopefully you can hang on to it for a little while.

well guys lets tune into the BJ auction in Las Vegas next weekend. With the way things are going right now in the economy & in the for see-able future --maybe this will be an indication if the classic & vintage --muscle car market is falling downwards quickly ? Everything else is so we have to be prepared for a whole new outlook in life over the next 5 years or more .

Man, you said it!!! I have been in the hospital three times in the last year, almost lost my life once, all kinds of side effects from the meds, can't physically work much anymore, residential construction has taken a dump, (that is my trade) very little income, car market has taken a spiral, stress continues to escalade. Hard to keep my chin up lately! What I was hoping to get for my car was not what I thought supply and demand should bring, but I what I needed to pay off some of my charge cards we have been living on.
I may have to hang on to it, just to bring enough to bail us out enough to see light.
My problems are not yours, just venting. Mood swings is another side effect of my meds. Sorry!

Unless i missed something, some pictures of your car and where you live, would help? I look here first before ebay, it seems buicks for sale come here first then they hit ebay? Someone out there will want your car and you don't need to price it for everyone, you just need to find that one buyer by advertizing the crap out of it...

When Walmart has a sale everyone runs to the store, when the stock market has a sale everyone runs away:Do No: .....for a buyer now is a great time to purchase muscle cars...at least thats what i keep telling my wife :Brow:

It might help if you would put the bottom dollar price.

Dale this is John. I have tried to buy Your Black SX conv since 1999 . The cars ( Muscle Cars) are at a low right now for 30 -- 60 K cars. The Big Boys are not affected by the Market and are still paying good money for high dollar documented cars. But your car is in the price range that is taking a big hit . I am buying cars for 15k that were 30 -- 35 k cars 6 months ago. I may loose my azz but I may make a profit if the market goes up. The Rule is to buy something you are willing to keep. You have a nice car and all you have to do is find the right buyer. But it ain't gonna bring 35k now.

This was my add here and a couple of other places back in Jan. of this year. Then I was dreaming of getting $57,000 for car alone. Now I would be happy with $57,000 with the parts! ($20,000 in Parts)

Well, I'm finally taking the plunge and putting my GSX up for sale. Health problems just about cost my life and have put me deep in debt. Therefore, doing what I feel is nescessary I am selling.

This car was the 671th produce in 1970.
    Vehicle number = 44637OH331628
    Body number = 278404
Body color = QQ Saturn Yellow
    Automatic - Non Stage1

I'm sure you guys know all about the GSX's, so I'll tell you just about mine.
I bought to restore and am no longer able to. In my opinion, it still warrants a good restoration. However, the car can be driven as is. Although it hasn't been driven for the last 7 years that I know of. The interior has been redone with "Legendary Auto Interiors LTD" and looks great. Floor and trunk pans look in good condition. Rear quarters have had some repair done to them some years ago. Trunk lid has been replaced. I have original rear spoiler and front lower shield.
The numbers all match but two items. I checked them out with the help of Dave Kleiner over the phone. One mis-match is for the good. It has a stage one distributor in it. :eek2: The other mis-match doesn't help. :( The block. I talked to one of the previous owners and he told me the original owner blew the block up within 3 months of owning it. It appears everything else was swapped out.
It has been documented by Wayne Roberts and I do have the original build sheet. I also have two folders full of work and parts receipts from years past and GSX emblems, stickers, etc.
I've had a hard time coming up with a figure and have been watching some that have been for sale. Quite a variety of prices and conditions to say the least and reserves not met! I am offering it for sale solely to the Buick fans at this point for $57,000.
I will consider a reasonable offer, but I need to get all I can to bail me out of a desperate situation. If I don't sell within a week of this posting, I'll be putting it on e-bay.

I also have about $20,000 worth of parts I bought from Year One when I first got the car. Was really pumped! Wasn't a very good move! Would like to get around $17,500 for them. That would really help too.

I have a few pictures of car but my camera broke. When it rains it pours. I will try to answer any questions you have, but am not able to get around like I use to. So please be patient.
Thank you, Dale ----- Location - WI.

Hey John; how's it going? Good to here from you. I know what you're saying is pretty accurate! But this is one time the truth hurts! It will be what it will be, and I won't be able to do anything about it, but wait.
Hey, did you see my SX in lower corner of Olds. muscle car poster? I felt really privledged! Can't sell that tho, been in the family too long and besides, market is still down. Take care and hope to hear from you again.

I'm sorry, but my bottom dollar will be the price I feel is a reasonable offer I can live with. Anyone who has serious interest can either accept my asking price or make an offer they feel the car is worth to them. I will either accept or see if we can meet somewhere in the middle. I'm not just trying to dump the car. Prices are down, but the desire for the car is as high as ever. They will go back up again!
This was not written with malice. I hope you understand!

Gotta love the big car auctions.
Selling cars for $100,000 and up.
They make us regular guys think our cars are worth way more than they are. Good luck.

The economy is actually worse than the feds say. I believe unemployment is over 10% now, if you count the "discouraged" workers that have fallen off the unemployment benefits roles.

I think the muscle car market has dropped prices in the 30-40% range on the low end and mid range stuff.

One advantage we have over the housing market is that they will never build any old style muscle car again and the supply is slowly dwindlng day by day. Hasn't the muscle car market tanked before and came back?
