Could someone out there please tell me the difference between the 70' hood and the 71'/72' hood? I read a while back about one of them having a spring the other not. What Spring are we talking about. The one that pops it up against the second latch? Is this something that can be attached to the one that does not have it. The air induction grilles or at least the grille openings would be the same would they? Thanks for any info. Tom

A 70 did not have a spring. I think there is a mounting piece for the spring on the 71-2. The grilles are different between 70 and a 71 and so are the hood lip moldings.

Thanks Jim, Sounds like the 70 hood is out and 71 or 72 would be the one.Tom

    Tom,

The inner hood support sheet metal on a 71/72 hood has two small tangs cut out of the structure to capture the hood spring. I think these would be hard to reproduce unless you have a very good body man and another hood to look at. I would spend the extra effort to find a 71/72 hood. Just my .02.
