Looks pretty nice, and $12k seems to be a good price too. They have been running up higher than that on ebay recently.
The speedo is a correct 4 speed unit. The PRNDLL is between the turn signal lights. I just converted my speedo to a 4 speed one. That car seems like a GREAT deal for what it is. Easy to restore, or one heck of a driver. Stage 1 + 4 Speed + 3.64 posi = :3gears:
For some reason those pictures scream George (staged67gspwr). I didn't even notice until y'all pointed out that it was located in Jersey, I just figured it was one of his finds...
Hold on here, that car does have the PRNDL on the speedo(I talked to owner), no block code, it used to have A/C(on firewall) so 3.64 ratio is not correct, wrong buckets, no GS on door panels. Having said all that, it is nicely equipped with gauges, tach, disc brakes, 3" exhaust, 72 N25, rally wheel, operational 4-speed, very good grille.
Reg Since it was an AC car with a GS VIN, it must have been a 3.42 rear. Since the 3.64 was misrepresented {might have been added later } and he did not mention it was an auto trans that had been converted to a 4 speed, one might seriously ask whether the stage 1 emblems were added. ( Knowing what we know it is hard to justify why the speedo pic was posted clipped at the bottom) Did he have anything to support the stage 1 claim?
The add has many misleading descriptions such as: " its equiped with a Muncie 4-speed transmission" and "the engine is a `70 buick 455 with the stage 1 heads". The seller never states original, factory, or matching numbers but leads you to believe it is. The add was written to deceive I believe.
No its not my car but if you look at the asking price on ebay i definately would not complain, original #`s matching GS 455 4-speeds or auto`s go for well over $18,000 on ebay, atleast this car is a GS455 according to the VIN and looks very nice and it may well be a Stage 1 also, who knows?you gotta giva the car some credit its not a **** box by any means.
That is not a 70 hood on the car either. George I think the suspicion raised by so many things mentioned above puts a cloud over the car which would not have been there if he had just been more forthcoming. I agree with you that at 12K it may still be a OK deal except you worry about what else is going to show up. Also it still has two days left and it may go higher.
Not a 70 rear bumper either but still nice for the price. Hell may be worth it for the rear quarters if original OEM
He disclosed the N25 swap in his description. We were focusing on some important things he did not mention which he should have mentioned.
