Does any one know the casting number on stage 1 heads...I have a set I think the last 4 numbers are 1109..... jimmy
Scott, all the answers I've ever heard mention that there are no set casting #s for Stage1 heads. Stock heads were just pulled off the line and fitted with the S1 valves. Isn't that right? If so, can we really know what casting numbers had S1 valves?
thanks Scott ..... that still doesnt tell me if they are 69 stage 1 heads right?...there are no valves in them..but they look like they larger than stock ones....
I believe that is what Scott is saying, in few words. Stock heads and Stg.1 heads have the same casting #'s on them. Only way to tell the diff is by checking valve sizes. Don't know the sizes off hand myself.
I believe Scott was saying all 1969 400-430's had the -1109 part number and all 1970 455's had the -1786 part number. You are correct in stating there were no different casting numbers for the Stage 1 heads, they used the same casting to produce the Stage 1 heads.
I believe the Stg1 package in 69 was a cam and dist set-up. Larger valves first appeared in 70. Could not use them in 69 because the smaller bore on the 400 prevent proper flow.
