This one was mentioned in another thread, but deserves its own. Looks pretty nice to me. Here This is a 2 owner rust free Southern car with all the paper work. It is the original Motor ,trans and rear. This car is completely numbers matching. Every rust free body panel is original to the car. The car has had one older repaint in the original Harvest Gold metallic color which was recently voted as most Buick owners favorite color. The paint is very nice but shows one crack near the bumper on the drivers side fender. The saddle interior is 100% original and near perfect. The carpet is still protected by the original floor mats. The original saddle vinyl top has no rips or wear but it is pulled out from the chrome in the rear corners. This was due to living in hot dry climate. The dash pad is perfect with no cracks, the rare console is perfect and looks like new. I can not say enough about how impressive the original interior is. The dated white labels on the seat belts are not even dirty. The original engine has been rebuilt to factory stock specs. It has its original carb, exaust manifolds, aircleaner, valve covers, etc. The bottom of the car is very clean and original. There is no rust just like the rest of the car. The factory spot welds can be seen on the bottoms of both quarter panels. This is usually the first place that these cars rust. The spot welds show that they have never been repaired. The original exhaust has been replaced with a new flow master set up that connects to the original manifolds. The car sounds incredible. Not too loud but very deep and throaty. The engine compartment is very clean but can be detailed better. The original radio looks great but the sound is too low. The original owner owned this car until 2003. I will list the documentation that goes with the car: This is all original nothing is reproduction: Owners manual Consumer information, braking distance, tire info, passing info New vehicle warranty plan with protecto plate imprint Original metal Protecto Plate, it shows SS 247 which is only on an original Stage 1 protecto plate 1970 Auto Meter Tach installation order and instructions Ring-Free Lifetime warranty papers Dealer check list and maintenance schedule Warranty instruction card Take another look at Buick accessories Brochure Important Cold engine starting instructions tag Original Dealer installed front license plate from Royal Buick Approximately 50+ Dealer receipts for all the warranty work and maintenance from the original dealer for the original owner. Receipts for the engine rebuild Copy of title with the original owner on it Approx 3-4 inches thick of printed correspondence from the original owner to other Buick nuts.
Chris, as I said on the other thread... I'm very open minded, but have a hard time thinking at 102K miles it can be as original as it's described. Do you really believe that? Driver's seat wear for instance, to start. And if no shocks, brakes, and suspension work in 104K that's setting a record, isn't it? Maybe I'm overlooking the fact that with several inches of dealer repairs a heck of a lot of wear and tear parts were replaced. But in that case I might not call it all original necessarily. Maybe a 102K mile cream puff? If there is such a thing. Looks solid and nice from the few pics there are to see.
I wonder if this is the 'recent acquisition' he's selling (and if it is, why)? http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=67924
I dunno Mike... The drivers seat area looks quite used. My interior was as good as that one, and I think I had a few more miles. I sat on my seat just before it was towed away 4-5 years ago, and I could hear some of the stitching poping. :eek2: I'd say seat covers are needed on this one, carpet looks its age too. What cracked me up was: "the original exhaust was recently replaced...." If that is true (which it might be), the car spent all its life in the desert, and probably not driven much the last 20 yrs... o No: Yep, I think the suspension probably needs to be overhauled too, but I think it very well could be accuratley described... More like what he doesn't say, things do need to be replaced to be road worthy. For instance, the engine could need a rebuild too... o No: Neat car though. :TU:
The interior wear (or lack thereof) is a little hard to believe, but who knows, a close up picture might show more wear than we can currently see. I didn't see where he said the shocks, brakes, etc. were still original, so I am guessing that they are in that stack of receipts. I think the "original stuff" was mainly the interior, sheet metal and engine accessories (carb, manifolds, etc.) which aren't too hard for me to believe (except for the driver's seat). I know my 69 convertible has about 110k + miles on it, and the interior is original except for the bottom of the front seat, and even the original carpet looks pretty good still, especially given that it is a convertible.
Very Nice! There's one (identical) in the Stage 1 Registry. and if I read the Vin stamped on the block correctly from the Ebay pictures 40H215521 that could be about right. My car is just above it and has a Vin very close...my engine production # is also very close. MARCO... Could this be the same car? Should bring some pretty good coin! :TU:
Gee Glen, good eyes... But he listed the vin in the ad. It is way off to the right. :eek2: "VIN Number: 446370h215521" :bglasses: I also have no idea how he managed to get the ebay ad so wide, and hope I never do that... ou:
Glen - I don't have my records with me at work, but what body # are you referring to? I don't see any Harvest Gold (code 58) cars around your December GS.
Hmmmmm.... That car is one town away from me. Maybe I should take it for a test drive????? :3gears: :3gears: :jd:
Marco....It's below my car 12D is the area...58F is the paint code and all options are the same as the one on Ebay.... It was just a thought.
Wonder where he got this info? I think the owner saw a bad survey because I don't think Harvest Gold would get the most votes as favorite color from Buick owners. I know I speak only for myself, but Harvest Gold is an okay color but I can think of MANY that look better on a '70 GS.
Yes the same car which was sold at the Charlotte show and was owned most recently by a friend here in NC.
I thought so. I found the car the first time it was on ebay a few years ago. What do you want to know about it. I spent a few hours with the orignal owner.
