Well, I sold my '70 Lesabre convertible to my brother in order to finish my Nova ( I know, you don't like chevy's, lol) but, I saw a '70 Skylark that caught my interest and after seeing all these nice skylarks and GS's, I got an itch for them. It must be a disease, lol. The car itself has been in NM all its life and rust-free. The one question I have is, the guy told me it came factory with buckets and front disc brakes. Was that an option with a skylark? I thought it would be on a GS but, not on a custom. Other than that, he says its almost in perfect condition with it being painted in 1980. No scratches or rust. Its white with a black vinyl top and interior. He's asking $5200 OBO. What do you guys think, too much for a #2 skylark? Thanks.

    Rob,

Can't tell you much about the disk brakes because mine has drums all around.

But my 70 skylark custom came from the factory with buckets and the console and power windows.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks Ray,
The weird part of it is that its an automatic on the column, no console. The guy told me he has all the paperwork from when it was new. I believe the original owner just passed away and he bought the car when he was 50-something years old. It would make a nice GS clone. I'm just tired of buying stuff up in the NE and getting a car full of rust.

there were cars with factory buckets and column shifts together. discs were an option on just about anything.

My 70 GS455 has factory buckets with no console (buildsheet to prove). I believe there are a few others on here with the same type of setup. It seems like they would go ahead and order the console too, but I guess they didn't!
That skylark sounds like it is a pretty nice car. $5200 sounds well worth it for such a nice car. You could buy a GS project car for that, but it would never be that nice without 10-15k of resto work. There's something to be said for a very clean skylark like that. Sounds like a good start, I'd go for it!

Sounds like a nice car it well worth it if you don't have to do all that metal work!:TU:

All where available options on the skylark also.

    Well,
I spoke to the guy that's selling the Skylark tonight and I made a deal with him. I got him down to $4850. The car also has a new transmission that cost $1000 (though, I feel that's a little high). He has all the paperwork from the original owner plus, he has the invoice for the rebuilt tranny. He told me the car is in very nice shape with good chrome, no rust, no leaks, no dings or dents, and perfect black bucket seat interior. I figure with the car being from New Mexico it would more likely be rust-free than buying in the northeast. The car has 120,000 adult-driven miles. I believe he said the original owner bought the car when he was 50. I'll have to post some pics when the car is in my possession. I would like to thank everybody for expressing their thoughts on this matter, it helped me alot. I was a little unsure of buying this car at first, until you guys helped.:TU:

    Thanks,
    Rob
