    Evening all.....

Now, I want to change the front power drums to discs on my 70 Skylark.

I just purchased the car a few months ago and it came with a bunch of parts for a front drum to disc conversion- minus the spindles.

Will the drum spindles work for a disc set up?

I'm headed to the swap meet tomorrow.....so.....?

Also, just thought of this,,,,I'm running 14" wheels for now......If they don't fit, I'll have to upgrade...

Factory replacement parts swap should be easiest and most cost effective. The spindles between drum and disc are different but only in machining. OEM-type spindles are easily available and pretty inexpensive if you can't find them at a swap meet. Jeg's has them for $112.

If they are factory Buick rims for disc brakes, you can use 14" wheels. I have them on the front of my 71 GS now. I just did this swap this spring. Not hard if everything comes off easily. Soak it in WD-40 a few days before and have plenty of oil dry and brake fluid handy. It can be messy.

That's a good price for spindles with free shipping too. To correctly convert you need booster, master cyl, lines, porportioning valve, hold off valve (70), rubber lines, small brackets for the frame as disc have a differentbracket, spindles, caliper brackets, rotors, calipers, backing plates, disc brake pedal pad and all the special bolts.

    Thanks Guys.

This will be my second conversion of an early 70 Skylark. Pretty straightforward. When I did my hardtop, I ordered a complete kit from Pirate Jacks.

I'll be in touch John- The front end will be next after I get this exhaust manifold leak fixed.
