What do you Buick gurus make of this code? I got under the Rivi to change the rear shocks out and I shined up the bottom of the axle tube to read the code and it is clearly stamped 008 PH. I know the car is an open diff and I think 3.07 ratio (STD for '70 Rivi) but I thought that it would be code PJ for open or PM for posi. I don't see code PH referenced in any of the Buick literature I have or in my '70 Buick Chassis manual. Does anyone have any guesses here?

    Thanks,
    James

008 would have been the date code. 8th day of year 1970.
Never saw or heard of a PH code. If no one chimes in with a valid explanation it could just be an error by the guy on the assembly line. If you ever have the cover off check the numbers on the ring gear and you can verify the ratio.

Double check to see if it is PM which is a 3.07 posi.
