70 rear bumper on 72?

If I rememeber, 70 rear skylark bumpers will bolt on 72s using 70 bumper brackets. However, I remember something about the gas tank neck needing to be "tweeked"?

I just installed a brand new 72 tank and would hate to have to buy a new one.

Amy ideas/suggestions? Please remember, just a fun driver Skylark and not looking for 100% correctness.... just safe and functional.

The filler neck from a 72 tank is too long and bumps the license tag. The solution is to get filler neck from a 70 tank, remove the 72 neck and solder the 70 in place. You may need to clock it for the best angle given the fin on the fuel cap. The tank has to be removed for the surgery.

 

Thanks. Will my 72 rear tail light assembly/housing fit the 70 bumper and will the 72 wiring harness work?

I assume I will need to buy 70 lenses (or at least want to).

Only one part number for 70. It is a flippy.
