Does anyone have an original non AC 70 GS 455 stage 1 car with the original radiator that still has the origianl radiator tag on it?

If so would you post the letters embossed on your tag?

My best car would be one with a non AC 70 GSx stage one with the original tag.

It is a metal tag clipped to the back of the passenger side tank. Also, embossed in the actual back of the tank itself are 3 raised letters--two big ones with a little letter in the middlle. Could you tell me those letters also?

We are finishing a concours' GSX resto and this will help shed light on a bit of a mystery in the assembly manual. I assume that yours is a non AC car?

What raised letters are embossed on the back of the passenger tank just below te trans lines hook ups ?

Should be embossed with CF or XS on the flat tops of the ridges on the back of the passenger tank.

Mine has raised "A" then small "C" then raised "H". No metal tag. 70 GSX Stage 1 non air.

Since the tag is missing are you sure it it the original?

The car was restored before I bought it so I can't say for certain that it is the original. It is stamped "HARRISON" right below the overflow tube if that helps. I don't see a CF or XS though.

Yes many of those models seem to have Harrison on there for 70. As far as I know all of those 70s did. There were a lot of models with 2,3, and 4 core as well as different tanks and cores with those categories. I am hesitant to use any one radiator as the answer because these things were changed and exchanged over the years rather than just recored. I could be wrong but the find an original I would hope to find is one on which the factory tag is still in place. That still would not exclude the chance a whole original radiator and tag was not transplanted into a wrong model core but the odds are at least better we may find the true answer to the inquiry.

Many thanks for your contribution and willingnes to take the time to answer this thread.

    jim,

The area you are taking about is so rusted i can't see what the letters are..
I took this radiator out several years ago, and installed a four core...

Thanks for posting that pic. I think that may be a replacement radiator.

    radiator tag

My tag reads as follows IA top CF next line 5 then to right side SJ I do know that mine is an original for 4-sp non A/C X car. If it helps

Yes it does confirm a few things. What year is your X car --a 70? Is it a stage one? (From your logo I now see that you have a stage one so that answers this question)

Many thanks for responding? (And I think your radiator is likely original to the car since it is non AC.)

Thanks for the pm verifying that you stage 1, 4 speed X is a 70 model that originally came equipped with an SJ tagged radiator. This means it had a CF size tank on the passenger side and an IA size tank on the driver's side. We own the same car-- a 4 speed, stage 1, 70 X, non AC--so we needed to verify that the radiator we are installing during resto is correct. How your X came equipped from the factory is the way at least I interpret the 1970 assembly manual radiator assembly chart found on page 11-4.3.
