Of the 168 or so that are in the registry, 50 are 4speeds, and 108 are sans air. Not sure what number of them have the combo of no air and 4 sp. My guess is Flynbuick (parts ferret) will know for sure.

Out of the 678 70 GSx cars there were supposedly only 199 four speeds. These 199 include both the white and the saturn yellow cars. I think the registry concludes only 400 of the 678 were stage 1 equipped . So if you do the math just based on this I have always said we started out with about 85 saturn yellow, 4 speed, stage 1 cars. If you futher deduct from that number the ratio in the registry of 36.7% AC equipped cars you end up with the number 54. The real question is how many with matching numbers are left? I have guessed less than 20 and but it is just a guess. We own one of those and there are some others on the Board. In one thread we has a roll call which was quite interesting.

Jim's thinking is right in line. Don't forget about attrition. From the registry I would venture to say at least half the cars have been destroyed and then only a fraction of the remaining cars are numbers matching. I think less then 20 is a really good guess.

What would you say for the numbers on the 10-10 GSX cars?

My dream X is 10-10, non-air, non-Stage, 4 speed. Can you say rare? Rode in Ed McHam's car, which fit this description, in 1985. Left quite an impression on me.
Ok, back to the subject at hand....

Actually it was his wife Janelle's car. It was an air car. Non stage and 4 spd. Had a stage 2 cam and the weber setup for awhile. :3gears:

    From the registry
    Apollo White Stage 1 4-speed non-air (14)
    Saturn Stage1 4-speed non-air (32)

Here is something very odd I had not noticed in the registry before. The majority of 4-speed cars did not I repeat NOT have air in the registry. There are only four 4 speed stage-1 GSX in the registry that have air (2 Saturn Yellow, 2 Apollo White)

So it looks like the numbers may be a little skewed between 4 speed and automatic. One other thing to note is the registry is only as good as the people providing the information. I have found that the information is good as far as I know it to be but take it for what its worth.

The thing you need to remember is that a guy who bought a four speed car probably wasn't interested in air and power windows and all that stuff, he was after performance or the image of...

Anyway, anyone lucky enough to own a real GSX should be very proud and very happy. Most of of us can only dream...

Well, the story behind my 1970 10-10 ,Non-Stg 1,Non-A/C, 4-Speed goes like this. Dealer orders the new 1970 GSX for his daughter, but doesn't realize till it comes in that the standard GSX comes with a 4-speed and she can't/won't drive a stick..... :Dou: Anyway, they use it for a while as a demo and then it's sold. That's why no options like power windows, seats or Stg.1.
I heard somewhere that the numbers for my car were something like 79 or 81 made... :Do No:

What ever happened to the intake and carbs?

When we went for the ride, he had just taken off the Webers and put back a cast intake and Q-jet. (Perhaps for racing the next day?) Even back then we knew that there were better cams than the old factory Stage 2, but the nostalgia factor was undeniable.
I remember it pulling like Seabiscuit-on-speed in gear, then slowly_____push_____in______the_______clutch______and______move_____the_____shifter______and______then dumpthecluctch,floorthethrotleand5Gsagian!!!!

Ed McHam had that setup on his Red 70 Stage 1 HT first. If I remember right, it did not like the automatic. So, it ended up on Janelle's car with the 4 speed. If you notice, the front two stacks are shorter to get it all under the hood. It came off at the nationals and the 4 bbl went back on. It did not go back on anything and Ed sold it a few years later. Do not know where it went.

...And the red car ended up with the home-made tri-power set up. One year he won his bracket with that set up.

How did they make the intake? A mod of an existing two or four barrel cast iron stock Buick intake?

It was probably a Mopar intake with the adapter plates...I seen one at BG in 88 that did that. But, who knows he had a cool setup on the other car..
