$75000 buy it now Said all numbers matching, the top of the engine is red and the oil pan is blue ???? I was told my 70 GSX Stage 1 4spd with iron Stage 2 heads etc was too high at $87500 NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep in mind that someone can ask anything they want for a car, doesn't mean that's what they're going to get for it.
I asked the question to the seller, Bill. Let's see if he answers! http://www.ebay.com/itm/111613465964?forcerRptr=true&item=111613465964&viewitem= Oh, and your price was NOT "too high" at $87,500!!
The hood does not line up and one [that we can see]of the tail lights has seen better days.I could see that on a $5.000 car,not on a car this out of range.Bruno.
Guys, not my car and and I have no idea who owns it, but why bash them and everything about the car? Incorrect color of the engine? Hood doesn't line up? $7500.00 for a paint job? If the speedo has a pointed lens? The rear bumper alignment? Yes there are issues with the car from the pictures, but the car can be painted for under $7500.00 if you did that sort of thing and the rest of the things pointed out.... a few hours and they are easily fixed. If the car is in fact a numbers matching car as the auction states and it says it is a Stage 1 and it (isn't hard to check the facts with a call to Wayne (Historical society)as the VIN is on the auction) is the price out of whack? I think not as much as you guys are saying even with the minor things pointed out based on the information given. Just being a "dink" I guess, and saying if someone was to spend that kind of money the the complaints listed are trivial if the car is what it is claimed to be. My opinion of course, which means nothing just not jumping on the "yes" man band wagon like everyone else here.
Sorry, way over priced. There are a lot of things wrong with that car. Wrong sport mirror on drivers door, no window sweep or weather stripping, no remote in door panel, maybe a different door, windshield trim ect. $15k would not touch repairing the things that car needs... It kind of looks someone just threw it together with whatever parts and listed it for sale.....
I think the seller's price is heavily influenced by the "Barrett Jackson Effect" I think this is a better representation of what an X of this price range should be condition wise. It's a numbers matching Stage car sold for $69,000. http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/indianapolis/1970/buick/gsx-S127.html
In my personal opinion, the GSX @ Gateway is in far better condition than the other. I, like Bill, question the "numbers matching" claim since it is obvious that the bottom of the engine is painted blue, as in a 1975-76 engine color but the top is been sprayed red. The overall paint condition is much better on the Gateway GSX too. It is one you could buy and drive for several years just maintaining the current condition. It is (was) a far better buy. IMHO, the first car posted should be considered a non-numbers car (unless proven, I'd want Duane with me to inspect) and the value lowered to reflect those conditions. At best, its a #3 car.
2 different photo angles of the clock show it may be pointed, but its hard to tell for sure. Wouldn't doubt it though looking at the rest of the car. gary
This board has been rough on everybody lately. Looks like a GSX that was actually driven and has the scars to prove it. Like any car for sale the seller is responsible for verifying it before purchasing. Who knows, maybe the car bottomed out and needed the oil pan replaced. Stranger things have happened. The interior looks decent, the paint is presentable. The lens on the clock looks flat to me. Looks like he has the paperwork proving its authenticity. It may be priced high, but what is a driver condition GSX worth? I would be more interested to look at a driven, beat to hell muscle car than the dozens and dozens of pristine trailer queens..
Agreed Brad. When I said a better representation of one worth the price I was speaking of the one at Gateway as well.
