Have you put the 200r4 in? :Do No: How much trouble? :af: :ball: If you don't mind a close cost analogy :beer

Did my sport wagon. Had a 350 in it so it was a relatively easy deal. My local trans guy built the 200R for me. $1300 with a 2400 lock up, has all the good hd stuff, guaranteed for 500hp. Toggle switch and some wire $10.00. Same yoke and trans length as the 350. I did rebalance the drive shaft $60.00. I changed to a chevelle style crossmember $100 swap meet part (not necessary, but it made for better install). Made a bracket for the tv cable $10.00, and the trans came with a new TV cable on it. So around $1500. Shifts hard, runs great. About 1300 rpm's with the lock up on at 65. Need some more gear (like 373's). Comes out of the hole a lot harder with the steep 1st gear.

Here are my costs so far and estimate for the total job.

BRF trans core was $200. Rebuilt to withstand my engine, @$1200. A 9/11 billet lockup converter $700 shipped. Redo yolk on driveshaft $100. And figure another $200 or so for TV cable stuff and lockup switch assembly. So for me about $2400, but the trans is being done with all the best stuff like billet shafts, extra cluthes and extra wide bands, reworked everything.

I'm supposed to get the tranny back by February, so that will give me two months before Norwalk to get it in and dialed in. It's supposed to be set up to shift at about 6000 rpm at WOT. So that will mean I can just put it in drive at the track and concentrate more on the tree.

I think this swap is going in my 71 next summer. I think this going to be norm in the next year. We should say thanks to the v-6 crowd for working most of the bugs out. Can't wait tell you post how it feels behind you motor and drives on the highway.Later

Phil, do you have a 4 detent shifter... I do, and it's the finishing touch. Talk to Skip.
