Remind me whether this pw circuit on a 70GS has a special circuit breaker or a Little glass fuse. If a fuse, what is the amperage rating? ---------- Post added at 01:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ---------- Ok - I see the special circuit breaker diagram now.
I was thinking that this one is made into an inline connector near the fuse panel. I have not messed with one in a long time. I do not remember it being on the firewaill. I will look tommorrow.
Jim Better info here for you. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?256992-Power-window-circuit-breaker HTH
I had not operated them in so long that the lube had worn off. Lube is one thing you seldom can have too much of!!
There is also a relay near the e brake handlebehind the kick panel if memory serves. Maybe check george N's site
The Buss Bar type circuit breaker is the metal thing in the top left of the fuse box. It pulls straight out. As John said it is a relay above the kick panel not a breaker. ---------- Post added at 10:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:23 PM ---------- The breaker is the small rectangular piece in the fuse box not the flasher as not to confuse the issue. ---------- Post added at 10:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ---------- Also there is nothing on the firewall engine side on a Buick. ---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 PM ---------- Also the service manaul says that the smae 10 amp fuse that operates the radio and map light as well trans solenoid operates the power window realy. Does that stuff work?
The 70 Chassis Manual at page 120-88 calls it a circuit breaker. I suppose it is an automatic and not a manual reset item? So the 10 amp Little fuse for the radio circuit is in series with the circuit breaker?
Jim, yes it is a circuit breaker and as i mentined before it also says bus bar.....there is also a relay plugged into the wiring harness fastened above the drivers kick panel. ---------- Post added at 08:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:12 PM ---------- I mistakingly said the relay was in the fuse box before ---------- Post added at 08:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:15 PM ---------- Check out page 120-12 in the fuse chart. The 7th fuse down lists power window relay.
I have now located the circuit breaker on page 12.12.1 of the 70 Factory Assembly Manual at the bottom. The GM part number is 1476675. But the print is not entirely clear. Can someone take a look at their copy to confirm this? Anyone have a source or an equivalent number in a generic brand? ---------- Post added at 08:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:14 PM ---------- Here is the Pontiac reference to a dealer service bulletin suggesting the circuit breaker replaces the bus bar if power accessories like pws are added. http://books.google.com/books?id=OJ...K#v=onepage&q=circuit breaker 1476675&f=false
Does that guy want $65 for that thing? it says donation 65 ---------- Post added at 02:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 AM ---------- Jim, The correct one is a 40 amp 12 volt unit( it is stamped on mine. The original was a Tung sol. I think Wagner makes it now. It is listed in the terminal supply catalog. The number appears to be CBF-40. The picture in the link shows a 15 amp version but you need 40. I would check a local parts store as this company sells in bulk. I also googled CBF-40 and a plastic type comes up. The metal type shown here has to be available somewhere. http://terminalsupplyco.com/Store/Product.aspx?pc=CBF-40 ---------- Post added at 02:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:05 AM ---------- another source http://www.electerm.com/breaker.html
Jim Saw that too and am not sure. Best time to call them appears to be in the afternoon. Phone Number at the warehouse is 406-777-3221
