70 Gs Question

    I am about to purchase a 70 GS that has a vinyl top and has trim rings around the rims of the wheels and the car is gold. My question is this rare to have trim rings on the wheels and did GS models come w/ vinyl tops

    Hi Jim, yes GS's could be ordered with vinyl tops. My car had 14 inch rim's with trim rings when I got it. I don't know how rare it is or if it was correct. I'm 98% sure they were factory!

    Hi Jim
    My 70 GS Stage 1 came with a black vinyl top and 14" rallye rims with trim rings. These where the original rims on the car when I bought it. I know the original owner and this is how he ordered it.

    From what I have seen it was rare for a hardtop not to have a vinyl topping.

    I have a 70 GS 350. It is silver with a black vinyl top. It also has the painted ralleys with the trim rings. You could order these wheels like this. I think the standard wheels were plain steel with dogdishes. My spare is a painted ralley with a trim ring. The tire is a Goodyear Custom Wide Tread G70 14 redline. I bought it with 51,000 miles so there is a good chance these options weren't added later.
