I find myself in need of some extra cash. And although Id like to complete what I started, Im obligated to my family to explore selling my project.

Im honor-bound to make sure that if it does change hands, the car would go to a GS enthusiast with all the right intentions. As the only reason I got this particular vehicle in the first place, was through my friendship with an avid GS enthusiast, with whom I plan to remain friends.

All that being said, I humbly offer my frame-off restoration project for sale.

The car is a 1970 GS 455 Convertible with the build sheet, which was decoded by Duane Heckman. Its a non-stage that was built in Flint, with a near-perfect original body and some rare options. All sheet metal body parts are rust-free OEM. I have an open, signed Illinois title from the previous owner. I began disassembly right after I bought it in 2003 and have never registered it. Some highlights noted on the build sheet are:

    Tilt Column
    Power Windows
    Disc Brakes
    Bucket Seats
    Automatic Transmission Floor Shift
    Non-A/C
    Power Steering
    AM Radio
    Sherwood Green Exterior Color
    Black Interior Color
    Black Convertible Top Color
Goodyear G-60-15 Tires w/ Dog Dish Hubcaps and Chrome Trim Rings
    Open Rear End

All the body and suspension parts were plastic media blasted and put in primer, paint or powder coated as appropriate. The chassis is assembled and is a roller.

The quarters are excellent; fenders are solid, rust-free OEM, as are the doors, hood and (2) trunk lids.

I bought a good 1970 core support and right front inner fender well from California, which were plastic blasted and primered.

The body is mounted to a home made, wheeled frame dolly. Included is a homemade H-shaped body lifter that works well with an engine hoist. The body is well braced with home made braces to keep it from flexing while off the frame.

The frame and major chassis components (including springs) were powder-coated OEM black. Other parts were painted using products from Eastwood. All bolts are new as well as other misc. chassis parts (Chevelle stuff from SS396.com). All new Moog bushings and steering components from OPGI. The springs are from ESPO.com. New brake and fuel lines from Rite Stuff. Original peg-leg rear end was not restored and was only installed so it would roll. Heres a link with some pictures: http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=143165

I purchased many other NOS and reproduction parts for the car from OPGI, Ebay and swap meets, etc., which are included.

I also have a 1970 Buick service manual, assembly manual, body manual and owners manual that are included.

Included is a very nice working 69 Buick AM/FM radio, NOS dash speaker (NIB), restored Buick 8 track tape player, and a Buick demo 8 track tape (NIB). I have service manuals for both units as well. The audio setup works perfectly.

The engine is a non-numbers matching, 1970 SF code with a correct 1970 carb. I was told the AE code TH-400 transmission is from a late 70s Cadillac. Although I never fired the engine, I was assured it ran well. I was going to send it to a machine shop and didnt want to take a chance on wrecking something. It turns by hand just fine considering the higher compression ratio.

I live in Shorewood, Illinois, which is right next to Joliet in south-suburban Chicago. I would be willing to assist the buyer in any reasonable way. Most of the larger parts are in a rented storage unit 20 miles away and the rest are in my garage.

I will also include a Buick 455 engine and 400 trans that were removed from a running and driving 73 Electra, which are stored at my brothers house in Woodstock, IL (the buyer would have to pick those up in Woodstock).

As with any project this size, there are too many details to write about or take pictures of. Ill be completely honest and sincere in answering questions and showing it to any interested buyers.

I have upwards of $18,000.00 invested. Id like to get at least $12,500.00 for the whole thing.

I can only describe so much in writing. If youre serious and want to see it, please call me at a reasonable time of day (before 8 PM Central Time) at the number listed below.

Greg Avery replied first (called my cell within about three minutes of the original post), and is coming from Detroit to see it today. He sounds very serious. If he doesn't want it after seeing it, I'll contact the next person who replied, which would be Don.

Here are some body pics of the parts in the storage shed. Some surface rust has developed since it's been in storage. I had to rescue it from a very sh!&&% body shop, but not before they began the trunk and floor pan replacement, which will need to be reworked by a true craftsman. They also blew over it with some cheap primer and made some dents in the quarters. I took it to them in bare metal which was plastic media blasted, so the surface rust and cheap primer will blow right off to reveal some solid metal. I'll post some photos of the extra stuff, which is at my house this weekend.

It sounds like you have really made this into a real project :( , which will cost a small fortune to put back together. Do you have all the parts to put this vehicle back together? Seats, dash, rims & tires, roof top, door panels, bumpers, drive shaft, trunk lid, hood, lights, dome lights, chrome trim, radiator, grill, window glass, etc. I am in California, so in order for this car to really be worth picking up for me, the price has really got to drop. I can tell that you really had big plans for this car and i am sure it is hard to let go of those plans. Let me know if you are willing to work with me on the price. Thanks

I'm in southern Illinois. I would like to know tht same thing. Is there anything this car will need other than being painted and put together? Send me a pm with a desent price you would be willing to take on a project this size.

    Thanks Jerry

Not that I'm the V8Buick police or anything, but per the "for sale" rules, all interested parties must respond publicly in a post here. This can prevent a lot of grief and bad feelings.

Following the stupid board rules cost me the sale of my car over a month ago.
A guy called me and said he wanted the car, but I had a guy reply to my ad that said he was "interested". So I was a good boy and followed board rules, only to have the guy dick me around for a week, then back out. I called the phone caller back, and guess what? He had already bought something else:Smarty: I don't need rules when it comes to money/family/priority.
    Now I'm stuck with a car I can't seem to GIVE away.:af:

Sorry for the hijack, good luck with your sale.:TU:

Granted Rick, but the comment in Bob's original post may lead anyone interested to believe that a phone call is all that's necessary:

It's just that I've been burned by the opposite of what happened to Tom, and many of the newer members may not know how things are supposed to work. :Do No:

I should just leave well enough alone, I suppose.
