Here is my 1970 GS 455 convertible with a Tomahawk aluminum 494. Runs great, about 2000 miles on it. TA built, Mike and the gang are an awesome bunch of people.
Here is one picture of the motor. I put a bunch in an album. Without being really tuned, it made 675 on 91 octane. I have since bumped the timing, jetted it, bigger squirter and a Wilson Manifold carb. spacer. Big difference doing this, real power now probably 700ish. Stage 2 Track Eliminator heads, port and polish, hydraulic roller 4/7 swap cam.
Everything is blacked out. Painted, not powder coated. I finished the car about 7 years ago, did some upgrades over last year and a half, got the motor in in November, took out the built matching number motor. TA is rebuilding that and I will store in my garage with other of the original parts.
Oh yeah, I remember you guys. You were about the only ones that knew it was a Buick, not a Grand National, and didn't ask why I took the turbo motor out!! That was the first outing with the new motor, have now beat on it about 2000 miles. Are you going back over end of March? ---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 PM ---------- I had the car up at the Windermere car show this past Saturday and Old Town Saturday night.
Joe, Love your car! I was never partial to painted bumpers but your car really wears them well! Love the upgrades you made on it and the A/C to boot with that special block screams Buick. Thanks for sharing your car with us. louie
Thanks for the compliment. It took a lot of time to get it together but I love it. Mike and the group at TA were awesome. I like the way it looks with the top up.
Joe Kool ride what kind of hood is that.Traction must be a joke with all that torque:3gears:. Good luck with the car.
Hi Steve, Here is a better pic. of the hood. It is a flat fiberglass hood, the scoop is custom between me and my friend's body shop. I started out thinking of raising up the air intake scoops of the original hood, and facing them forward and it kind of morphed from there, I looked at a bunch of cars and pictures and that is how it ended up, and we molded it into the center line of the hood. Yeah, no real traction. They are 315 Nitto drag radials, car will blow them loose at 40.
Saw your car at the Windermere show and at Old Town last Sat. I was wondering if you were one of the V8 Buick guys but didnt get much time to track you down. Your car looks and sounds awesome.
Thanks. I talked to you last year at Car Masters when I was waiting for the motor to come back. BTW, I was one of the Judges at Windermere...
