Unwrapped pics. Looks to be in very good shape other than the the rim blow ring part. Don't see any cracks, etc. (not sure if they were prone to like the Deluxe wheels). Rim blow wheels were quite popular w/Ford & Chrysler but seemingly not so much w/GM. I suppose one of the places that restores them could fix it or it could be made to look correct but non-functional. I bought it for a project car that I thought I was going to buy but never wound up getting & saw this & grabbed it just in case - Oddly enough it was a pretty low option Stage 1 4-sp that I assume the dealer just checked off the wrong box & was supposed to get a Rallye Wheel. Honeslty I think I paid $50 + shipping for it a few years ago. As Joe said, pretty rare piece. I've seen one other GS w/one. Probably more popular on the big cars/Rivs.

My '70 GS 455 Conv came with one originally, it's up in the attic since I went to a sport wheel when I restored the car. I've only ever seen a few of them.

Thanks Dano I'll take it . They were discontinued because they were Problematic . Yes they were more popular on Rivs but ended in 71. I know there is a place that restores them but the last person I know that did one spent $1,000 .

The actual rim blow is on the inside of the wheel not the top of the wheel . Its like a rubber piece . I'll send you a PM .

Thx. Lou. Figured someone could use it. I thought when I was looking into this I saw a a couple places that restored them for Ford/Chrysler but never looked too hard. Probably pretty neat looking when done.

The working "rim blow" part of the wheel was almost identical to the ones used in the Mustangs.

Years ago I had the Ford part numbers for the unit and gave them to Dave Kleiner.

That type of wheel was used by various manufacturers. I think Dave said he had to shave a very thin amount off one end to make it work on the Buick wheel.

I did get in touch with the person that had one restored . She said she even has a video of it and the place that restored it . As soon as I get the info I will share it . And she did confirm that it cost around $1,000 .

Yes Duane I remember them on Lincolns too .

$800 is too much to spend on a steering wheel . And that was 5 years ago . I'm sure its up to a $1,000 by now . Money better spent on more important things . I am figuring out how to make the center bar be the horn blowing mechanism and probably wrap the wheel Dano . Another project for winter months
