Numbers Matching, 117,000 origional miles. Car was origionally a California car and I have owned the car since 1993, I bought it out of a museum in Minnesota from a guy who had it for roughly 10 years. The car was stripped and repainted about 5 years ago, car has not traveled 500 miles since. It was restored by the Minnesota owner but he deemed it not necessary to pull the frame, the car is completely solid, numbers matching engine, trans, wheels and as far as I know the bumpers, hood and fenders are origional. Most of the interior is origional and in excellent condition. The car also has a Buick 8 Track, when the car was purchased it had a set of headers on it (unsure of make), a B4B intake manifold and a lopey cam. These parts remain today as I never had any interest to remove them as I have and will always love this car just the way it is. I welcome anybody to fly out to go over this car with a fine tooth comb, I am under an hour from the Philly Intl. Airport. I forgot to list the VIN, it is 446370H269783 and I will take a picture of the cowl plate tomorrow after work.
I was looking for Body Order Production Final Sheet, Build Sheet, or GSX Historic Soceity documentation. I send a resposne email. Thank you for all the information on the car. I wish you the best in selling the car it looks very nice. Mark
I have not looked extensively through the car for the build sheet, not totally sure what the Body Order Production Final Sheet is, and when talking to the Historical Society years ago, they said the cars VIN falls into a gap in which they have no info on, the vin is posted above, if anybody has any info or and connections that they can bridge the gap then pleae help. The cowl says 3A as the production date so it was one of the earlier GSX's produced. What email are you sending responces too because I am not getting them? Here are more pictures of the vehilce including the wheels, cowl tag and some under car shots. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx008.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx007.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx006.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx003.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx004.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/TurboTeg96/gsx002.jpg
I saw this car last year when I was looking at the 71 Convertible, sweet looking car, looked great next to the GNX, talk about a dream garage. Only reason I didn't buy the 71 was that we couldn't document that it was a Stage One, though it looked to be and Ben let me take a lot of the car apart while we were looking. :TU: ________ Mercedes-benz om616
The Body Order Production Final Sheet is typically found on top of the gas tank. It is a 81/2 x 11 sheet. Duane Heckman can decode them if you find it. I have an example on my website. The GSX Historic Society is operated by Wayne Roberts who is on the board. Wayne will have the information on your car. I believe he charges $75.00 now and it takes awhile to get the information but it will tell you what your car came with from the factory. I sent you an emial last night in response to the pictures you sent me. Mark
How much would be involved in dropping the tank?, basically taking the old straps off and replacing them with new ones and removing the fuel line correct.
To drop the tank, all you would need to do is unfasten the straps. If not completely removing the tank, the fuel lines may not need unfastened, as they are flexible rubber lines coming from the tank into the metal fuel lines. It's been awhile since taking a tank out of a GS, but there may be a fastener on the bumper, or close by to keep the filler neck from moving around. Putting a jack under the tank and slowly lowering it will keep damage from happening. Knowing the moisture and other elements, it's better to completely separate the tank from the car where you'd be able to carefully remove the buildsheet, which may be brittle. It isn't difficult to do, just takes patience and time.
I would make sure it is fairly empty when you take the tank down. That helps a lot. There are two bolts towards the front of the tank. If you take those out the staps unbolt and the tank can come out if the back of the car is jacked up. Watch the fuel lines. They are flexible but may not be long enough to stretch as far as you want. The sheet is usually between the tank and the sound deadning batting on top of the tank. I got the one off my dad's GSX without taking the entire tank out. I simply let the straps down and the front of the tank down and lifted the matting. there is was in perfect condition. It took me about 30 minutes to complete. Mark
You might want to disconnect the wire from the sender to the gas guage as well if your going to drop it very far, just to make sure you don't break it. Jeff
Eventally got to dropping the tank, there was no build sheet, I however have been in contact with Wayne Roberts and he is sending the documentation, the car is an origional Auto/Car car with the California Emissions Package, he mentioned something of a rare option the was Chrome Seatbelts, I forget the code, I will post all info when it arrives at my house.
This car will be going on Ebay within the week with a discounted price, recieved GSX Historical Society Info and I am moving more aggressively forward with the sale.
Any reflection you would be willing to add about your pricing thoughts? Only reason I ask is because I cannot seem to give my super solid 4-spd away on eBay - reason unknown.
No, I am preparing a thorough write up and have not had much time to do it, I really liked yours iron, shocking your car has not sold yet.
