I'm not ready to do a frame-off just yet but the thought of 40 year old brake lines makes me uneasy. As far as I know, I have no leaks today but I'm thinking it is time.

Now, replacing just part of them seems a false sense of security. Can I replace all of the brake lines on a '70 Stage 1 disc brake car without splitting the frame from the body? I guess the worst one looks like the rear over the frame.

    Thoughts?

I'll be pulling the rear end soon if that helps.

You spotted where the problem will be.

i replaced all the brake lines on my '72 gs in 2001 without removing/lifting the body from the frame. i purchased all the lines from inlinetube. my car does have factory disk brakes. my line were almost 30 years old and still had a few good years left in them. ther were a couple of thin spots.
i highly suggest that u change them.
i can tell u this. i owned a '98 regal gs from may of '98 until june 2008.
i had one brake line fail in december 2007.
30 years vs 10 years. that tells u about the quality!

I understand completely. That's why I was asking. My car has been garaged since about 85 but who knows what the first 10 years had happen to it.

Did you go stainless or OEM lines?

If you're gonna do it, go stainless and don't look back. Do it once and do it right. :TU:

Inline Tube get's my vote. Their lines fit perfect.

Stainless sounds like a winner. Is it tougher to get to seal?

So, how hard of a time am I going to have with the rear line around the shock mount? Is there a secret I need to know? I've not looked at where the mount points are in that area.

I'd have to crawl under the car and look, but it's 16 degrees in the shed.

I cheated and did all mine while the body was off. From what I've heard, it can be a real pain to install pre-bent lines.
