Is buckets and console in a 70-72 Skylark considerate rare? If I buy one with bench, is the conversion to buckets hard to do? I might consider buying a Skylark/GS but I like it to be buckets and console.

Hans, The hardest part will be finding decent buckets to use. The are available but fairly pricey. The bucket seat brackets (which adapt a bench car to bolt in buckets) are available aftermarket I believe. Possibly The Parts Place.

The rear console bracket is also available aftermarket but not the front but you could fabricate that. You need to have the seat and console brackets welded to the floor. Only the rear outside hole of the bench is used on the buckets. The other post go over studs on the new brackets. The floor is already dimpled where the shifter screws go and there is a round disc area where you need to drill hole for shifter cable. You also need attacnebt at transmision which is also available as well as bracket that attaches to trans. pan. Find a picture in service or assembly manual to get an idea how shifter attaches
