Hi have you had any luck making an airbox underneath the grills? I thought I saw a post about it but couldn't find the result.

I have a turbo LS in my 71 GS and it would be really cool to somehow have cold air go from the grills to the turbo.

Craig and I are working on something similar right now! I'll take pictures and explain the design once it's finalized.

It can be worth up to 3 tenths when functioning correctly. Last time I spoke with Craig,I mentioned possibly just taking the existing air box and rotating it 180,then blending into the scoops. I know there’s enough material there and might save some hassle from making a new mold.

3/10ths is HUGE! I need all the help I can get with my heavy pig!

I’ve seen 2-3 tenths with the right setup versus just having everything open and swirling around. There is potential there and even more with Craig’s hood, since the scooped area is lifted. I would leave the majority of the scoop floors shut and open the vertical pockets at the back of the scoops. No,they aren’t that big,but they can be effective.

Patrick’s air box will certainly be unique! It should be completed this weekend. We’ve spent a lot of time on text and emails sorting it out!

This is very rough at this point, I’m just getting the shape dialed in before smoothing everything out. There will be an access panel that will allow the two air cleaners to be mounted in the airbox. The turbo inlet pipes will also go through the access panel via a plate that seals on the underside. Each turbo inlet pipe will draw air directly from the airbox. We were initially looking at having two extensions boxes on the front sides of the airbox but it got complicated not being able to do a mockup on the car in person.

Craig have you done anything with the glove box door project? I know a while back you said you had a couple of prototypes that weren't perfect. I'm still interested in one of those for my race car if you have one available.

Tommy, you may be closer than the list indicates. Some folks have been on the list a long time and have moved on from my hood for one reason or another, sold the car, bought a different hoot, etc. I need to send out inquiries to the top 20 to get a more accurate listing.

Well it's been a year for sure! Any of you following this thread know I had been spending a fair amount of time in Florida helping my sister with my 94 year old Mom. It was week a month all year long. It was a strain on my already slow production, but necessary. Unfortunately my Mom passed earlier this month. She lived a long happy life, so that was good.

Now on the hood side, Patrick was next in line and asked me if I could come up with a way to feed the two turbos through the cowl hood airbox on his Turbo 350 setup. We had several different designs but finally came up with this finished product. The tough part was making something custom and not having it right in front of you to design it. Lots of emails and pictures went coast to coast :) Basically when Patrick receives this hood shortly he will cut about a 3" hole on each side of the black access plate. This will allow intake tubes to feed air down right above the valve covers to an elbow and into the turbo. The pipes will seal to the access plate with some foam. This will allow the hood to lift without disturbing the tubes. There is enough room to get two smaller air cleaners actually inside the airbox. They will be securely mount to the access plate. We haven't done a full mock up on this due to me being in Georgia and Patrick is in California! So we'll see how it ends up! This took more time than I thought it would, but I'm building the shipping box right now and it should head west shortly, and I'll start on the next hood.

I had to build the shipping box larger than usual, because I have to ship back his Poston front spoiler as well.

Patrick had one of the old Poston ram air style front spoilers that had seen better days. I told him I could repair it if he sent it to me with the understanding that after it's repaired I'm going to make a mold from it.

Here's the mold about 50% complete. I did finish it and it came out pretty good, still will need the usual post release clean up and I have a few other things I'm working on that have to take priority for now.

This is Patrick's refinished spoiler ready to join his hood for the trip out west!

So I will reach out to the next 10 or so folks on the list and see if they're still interested. Some won't be and that will speed things up a bit for others. I haven't heard back from the next member on the list, 11 Sec GS, so unless I hear something shortly, I'll remove that name. Mores hoods coming shortly.

Truly thankful for everyones patience and understanding!

Thank You for the update. Your hood is a very important part of getting my car into the 11’s next season. Especially if I can’t get aluminum heads!

Just out of curosity, what is the shipping average? I am in Pa and want to factor that in..Too bad I wasn't up now as I will be heading to Cochran Georgia on Tuesday to pick up my buddies enclosed trailer..I am more interested in one of those dash clusters if you decide to take that on..

I shipped two hoods this year sort of near to your area, one was Pittsburgh and one was New Jersey. I believe both of those hoods were about $250 to ship. Depending on timing and everything, I can also deliver up to two hoods to the GS Nationals as well.

I tried sending out messages to the next 5 people on the list to see if they are still interested. The list may shrink based on their response (or lack thereof) One member I cannot find is CruisnKev. Does anyone know him or maybe I'm spelling his screen name incorrectly?

    Thanks,
    Craig
