thanks for the bump to the board 65 special. hard times for me in the construction industry. wish i could hang on to this stuff but it needs to go so any of you guys need any of this give me a call sure we can work something out. thanks kirk.
considering putting my 72 gs factory 455 4-speed flame orange car on the block. wondering if there would be any interest. there is a pic and some info in my old post titled stage 2 tag? let me know. thanks Kirk
Kirk what are you wanting for the car? The more I look at it I am thinking it at one time might have had the stage 2 parts added to a stock 455. If you were going to buy the stage 2 why pay extra for the stage 1 option? Just buy the 455 U code and the stage 2 package and have a speed shop install it all. In my area the dealer would not install it if the car was new but would after the warantee ran out. I have a friend with a 70 with the stage 2 package that was put on it in 1972. The car had to have over 36000 miles before the dealer would install it. All his work was done by the dealer until 1978 when he took the car from hi s older brother. I lost track of him but I know I can hunt him down again. Maybe he doesn't know what these are worth
Got to be a rare piece since there were so few 4 spd GS' made that year. Less than 100 made . How many are left? If your doing a concours resto can you do it without the correct 4 spd carb? I remember a 70 stage 1 246 carb in poor shape selling for 5K a few years ago. It was the right time frame for a GSX but still it makes 700 seem afforadble ( almost)
John you bring up some very good points. It is still a mystery. but I do think at one point it had the goods. Im thinking 19k for the car but I will say this the car does have some rust issues but shes a monster and has less than 1900 miles on all the running gear, there is build info in my old posts and if there is good interest i will list it all. Jan to answer your question, the car was miising the trans when i got it, but im running a super case muncie with m-22 gear cluster. and if anyone is restoreing a u code 4-speed car, show me another one of these carbs. good luck! Its well worth it just my opinion.
